Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Very important which is why there needs to be clear guidelines on what can open and how they can do it safely.

I’ll ask for the fifth time. What about the millions of unemployed people you’re willing to throw on the scrapheap until this virus disappears. This needs to be taken into consideration also. Surely you can see that?

For a devout socialist, it appears Dave not only loathes the working class, but also wants them to lose their jobs, which is sadly indicative of the champagne socialism espoused by Corbyn that found its audience in the chattering classes, as the truly working class in factories and on buses have largely been continuing to work throughout all of this, and have been putting themselves in harms way while Dave cowers away on his bicycle.

The Butchers Arms / Lancs - pays the pitch fees via fundraisers for Blokes United, a mental health charity in East Lancs, that uses football as a way of helping men with mental health problems get better and make friends.

The County Arms in Truro / Cornwall provided free b & b for hospital staff from the nearby Royal Cornwall during the pandemic.

The Bulls Head in Hale / Cheshire provided free b & b for key workers and hospital staff from the nearby Wythenshawe Hospital.

The Garden House in Norwich gave £2000 to their local NHS to pay for televisions and tablets for NHS staff on their breaks.

The Wellington Arms in Berks provided free b & b to nurses who`d been made homeless following eviction by a scummy landlord.

The Welsh brewey Brains, donated £100,000 worth of food to NHS / keyworkers and nursing homes.

The Garibaldi in Surrey transformed itself into a local shop to help the elderly and vulnerable in the community, who couldn`t get to the supermarket.

The Vaults in Ruabon / N. Wales joined forces with the local mini market and Age Concern to deliver food and essentials to the elderly and vulnerable.

And that`s without even looking properly.

But yeah, let`s shut them all down, as their only purpose they serve is for scallies to tip ale down their necks and gorge on junk food.

What you really mean, is that you hope it does.
I want to know which pub or restaurant did Dave dirty. This is the kind of scorn you have for an ex you find in bed, dressed as a french maid being serviced by that bloke she’s just friends with. And they don’t stop as you sink to your knees and cry.

I agree. Which is why I dont think they will. 100% compliance is what I see.
It’s 100% at work and has been for a while now.
In fact I’m probably the worst member of staff for forgetting to put one on when leaving the staff areas to go onto the shop floor. !

I can tell you of a pub where pre pandemic an older regular customer , who lives alone had a turn . The owners got him an ambulance and one went up with him , stayed with him him until he was kept in . They then washed his clothes and got him up some new socks and underwear for when he got out whilst some other customers sorted out some shopping for him when he got home .

See now that’s real not a story about murderers, profiteers or subhuman scum just decent people being decent . By the way it’s also genuine social responsibility the type that we’re probably going to need a lot more of to get through the near future .

I appreciate in your vast experience life is like a dystopian post apocalyptic horror show and at times I also despair but in reality there are some thoroughly decent people out there despite the fact I think you’ve probably advocated their execution 350 times in this thread .

Girl I grew up with runs a pub that was widely lauded during the lockdown for providing a meals on wheels type service for vulnerable members of the local community.

She posted on Facebook yesterday how hard they're finding it to keep their heads above water.

@davek was right, the great British public are as thick as pigshit.

I agree, it would he the public's fault.

Once you remove common sense and live by instruction then that is a ridiculous society to live in.

Government can open/close what they want. At the end of the day if you go about doing things that potentially has you catch a virus or mingle with people where it would be fatal then Boris can't control that.

Just because the pub is open , doesn't mean you have to go for example.

I'm not saying it's good but it's all relative. We had horrendous figures a few months ago and are in a far better place.

Regionally, I'm in Northern Ireland and we haven't had a death in 22 days. I don't think it's wrong for me to be confident things are getting better.

It's also not easy to compare the UK and Australia. One is a very densely populated island and the other a much more sparsely populated, and enormously big island with a third of the population.
But don't about 90% of the population live in huge crowded cities?

Governments are supposed to govern, I've seen little example of that in the past few months.

Lives also depend on the 3 million people employed in the hospitality industry too, but you`d happily have them all on the dole.

But you keep dodging this fact don`t you :coffee:
3 million people who would be better employed making things.
Become less dependent on China for things.

You can blame the government for all sorts and that's fine.

But if we all got sick again then it's our own fault. You don't have to go the pub, or go to a restaurant if you don't want to. You don't have to pack the beaches even if it's socially distanced. You don't have to stand closer to someone else because the ruling dropped by a metre.

You can still stay indoors if you want, go out when necessary , open air stuff , no mass gatherings etc

It's common sense that seems to be getting forgotten about.

I thought during and after this,we would change, people would have more empathy, the way the economy and jobs are built on sand would change, that abandoned communities would get a helping hand, instead it consists of a clap for essential workers, now get back to slaving away,we gave you a couple of months money, now get back or get sacked, tough if fatties, oaps and sick die, lets line the pockets of the rich by giving them millions even though they dont have the resources or staff to do the job,I dread to think whats still to come when jobs are lost for good and less tax is collected

If you'd been following the debate here yould know that my view is that the furlough scheme will last beyond October in some form of business/government scheme.

My focus is on closing down know incubators for the Covid19 virus. So should your too.
