I don’t really mind if pubs are closed because the scientists believe it’s the right thing to do. But this time I just hope they give us enough advance notice so we can clear the stock in a sensible manner .....

Aberdeen back under lock down after a cluster of cases, (bar related iirc). Thats how it will be for the forseeable I reckon.

Like in my area, North Somerset, they have published the stats today. 146 CV deaths up to last week. 90 in Hospital, 50 in care homes, (75% of care homes had no cases) 6 at home. In 6 months pretty much.

I guess if we keep the masks on, and social distance, till winter, thats pretty much all we can do.

I really am not qualified to speculate about a 2nd wave, as the first wave is still with us.....isn't it?
Obviously its down to "labour voting areas" and poor people in general, according to some on here

Some people didn’t mention poor people. Tory areas also have poor people. Areas behaving sensibly and reducing the risk of infection have poor people. You seem to equate Labour with poor people.......

That's the system you support: supply and demand. And it'll be the government, not the scientists who close pubs down. Contact the Tory MP you wasted your vote on.

You portray pubs as some kind of spit and sawdust dens of iniquity, yet having just eaten out with my family for 2 weeks solid in a wide variety of pubs / hotels whilst on holiday here’s what I encountered :

A reception area at the entrance to the majority of pubs / hotels, where track and trace details where provided and hands sanitised.

Where you given guidelines on what to do re. track and trace if one of you subsequently developed symptoms ?, are you supposed to inform the places you ate in ?. I’m picking on you because you’ve been recently .

Good news. I'm fairly optimistic with where we are at, which is why I think now is the time to move forward.

I'm obviously missing something, but that report said that more 200 people died from Covid last week. How on earth can 217 people dying from Covid give you optimism?

Very important which is why there needs to be clear guidelines on what can open and how they can do it safely.

I’ll ask for the fifth time. What about the millions of unemployed people you’re willing to throw on the scrapheap until this virus disappears. This needs to be taken into consideration also. Surely you can see that?
