Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Have you noticed how all the Labour supporting areas correspond to all the high Covid infection areas and the areas where no one gives a toss about social distancing.....just an observation.....

I would be more worried about the likes Jeremy Hunt wafting his eat out to help out £50 off restaurant bill, and the decision not to pay full sick pay to some of our lowest earner's, who have been at the forefront of this pandemic as keyworkers, priority priority priority!

You portray pubs as some kind of spit and sawdust dens of iniquity, yet having just eaten out with my family for 2 weeks solid in a wide variety of pubs / hotels whilst on holiday here’s what I encountered :

A reception area at the entrance to the majority of pubs / hotels, where track and trace details where provided and hands sanitised.

All staff wearing either masks or visors.

A table was allocated, where you had to remain and food and drink orders where taken.

No standing or approaching the bar.

Food / drink was then brought to you / empties taken away by a member of staff wearing a mask / visor.

One way only to the toilet and return via another way to maintain social distancing.

Hand sanitisers on the tables / entrances and exits and in the toilets.

Once the new max captivity was reached customers turned away or phone numbers taken to call them when a table came free.

Oh and I didn’t see one drunk person in 2 weeks.

What I did see was an industry that is doing it’s best to survive and also provide employment/ livelihoods for thousands of local people and preserve the character and fabric of entire communities.

But don’t let that get in the way of your jaundiced view of life and your many many mad agendas.
It's good to hear reports like this. However the places you use are obviously very different from pubs used by the younger generation or wannabe young again types.
Your place has been described on here as "where Rees moggie might go for a pre Xmas sherry."

Had a squizz at the Belgian figures from the last 2 weeks that are driving our 2nd lockdown.

Theres been an up tick of cases from about 80 a day to 450 a day which has correlated almost precisely with testing being widely available. Those cases were obviously there before, we just know about them now.

The more interesting part is that of the 10,300 cases in the country currently only 54 are listed as "serious/critical" and the death rate is completely static at between 1 and 5 per day.

This isn't a second a wave you fools, it's what your strategy working looks like. Can I go back to the practice room now?
this fella has nailed it

Bet your old
Like greame souness, bitter looking at the youngsters
Very old yes, in fact a WW2 survivor. However I'm not at all bitter, I've had a long and interesting life through many different eras. It was a very different world when I was in my 20s and I do feel that today's young people would struggle to survive in that world.
On the other hand, I do find this computer age difficult to keep up with and marvel at the dexterity of the kids.
And BTW, it's you're, short for you are.

Pubs have now been open for a month.

Where is the second wave that certain people were proclaiming was inevitable as a result ?

Add to that the crowds on the beaches, the BLM marches.

Some people on here seem to actively want things to go bad again, just so they can bang on about how right they were and what a mess the country is in.

Getting businesses up and running again is key but we still have to be careful. The pub I visited last night had all of the tables that were designated for eating completely full, with families taking advantage of the half price offer. The same pub will be near empty on Thursday. I took my granddaughter to an outdoor play area yesterday, packed with young mums, dads and their children. My granddaughter and myself were the only people wearing a face mask. It looks to me that we will end up with herd immunity whether we aspired to it or not.....

Throughout all of this, the more you test, the more you find.

So when you read there is X amount of new cases , everyone panic from either news , government or other posters it means nothing.

There should have been a policy to test everyone since the beginning to understand how many people have got it rather than using test results as you go along.

Only the scenario of you tested 100k in a week now and found a significant amount of cases still is worthy of panic. Means the virus is promenent in the country still. Without that Information then you can't manage it without just guesswork.
