I just got back from another bike ride (again, 15 miler, face covered up and doing no one any harm).

Again I passed hundreds of people, most not social distancing, none - other than me - with face covering.

An utter scally nation full of scumbags who couldn't give a flying one about anyone but themselves. I'd literally rather live in any country in Europe other than this

I have no idea why you live in this country, as you have nothing good to say about it or anyone who lives in it lol

Social distancing is all but gone on the baleric islands, still some regs in place such as masks for waiters and shop attentdents etc, no mass gatherings or indoor bars/resturants. Apparently the ferries from barca and other heavily hit places open again next week which will give a big indication on how things will go.

Meanwhile Germany has dropped to below 10000 active cases which is a really heroic achievement given theri position in europe

Out and about in Frankfurt it just seems like "back to normal" now. Town was packed yesterday. No idea if this is a good thing or not TBH lol

That's the BS official figure....and even that is horrendous and way above what's happening in France, Spain and Italy.

ONS figures are the only one's that count.

FFS, wake up will you. This lot will kill the 'kin lot of us.

So it`s not just the population of this " Scally Nation " that`s hell bent on killing themselves and others ???

Thanks for turning a blind eye to my £100 000 from the racing industry. No wonder there's a race to get the country open, can't cancel Royal Ascot. Not too hard to work out why Cheltenham wasn't cancelled.

Im in two minds about the racing restarting.

Its nice for something to watch but with this and the football coming back together I'll end up betting more than normal out of boredom and will be skint!

Hard to say, Spain really did do a hard lockdown in comparison to the UK, though as I said on here I was in Liverpool in April and in my opinion the vast vast majority of people were fantastic and doing their upmost to look after NHS staff and giving supermarket workers the gratitude and respect they deserved. My concern with the UK is the government response was so appalling I have no confidence at all in them dealing with a secondary wave or small clusters of infection, Johnson, cummings et al have been worse than I could have imagined. So many experts have spoken about relieveing lockdown at the right time and having the right measures in place to make it worthwhile, and after the laughable hypocrisy of the tory party I get more of a 'well i'm going to live my life vibe' from them. As much as that does worry me I can't really blame them, anyone who has ever had to endure the turgid endurance of being on a leadership course will know the importance of good examples at the top.

An awful lot of hypocrisy from a lot of posters in here

All of the talk at the start of this pandemic was that the UK was 2 weeks behind some of the worst hit countries (Italy, France and Germany)

Now that lockdown rules are being lifted - every Tom, Dick and Harry is posting daily death figures that show our deaths being considerably higher than other countries

Just over 2 weeks ago (May 15th) Italy had 242 deaths in a day. Yesterday, we announced 215. Since then, Italy have reopened bars and restaurants, hairdressers, shops, museums, libraries, gyms and leisure centres.

We also still aren't sure how they are counting their deaths - are they including care home deaths like we are? Every country has a different calculation.

Thats what I said yesterday - you cant judge our numbers against those of countries weeks ahead of us.

I still don't think we'll get the numbers down to other european nations but in 2 weeks I doubt they'll have increased and will likely have dropped.

I agree in 2 weeks time the deaths may well have dropped, but post the Cummings incident about a week ago the wheels have come off as a lot of the population have stopped listening to the government and are doing as they please.
From Tomorrow a lot of places are reopening so people will be mingling a lot more.
Let's see what the figures are like by the end of June that's when the shi will hit the fan.

Ultimately the lifting/reduction in the restrictions is a significant gamble. A lot of evidence regarding the virus spread suggests it is too soon and we really should be lifting things in a more phased manner - schools yes, but not at the same time as a host of other relaxations. It is a decision grounded in favour of supporting the economy rather than combatting the virus.

Additionally, the easing of restriction is dependent upon adherence to good practice - commited social distancing, face masks, protection of vulnerable (effectively where we were/should've been prior to lockdown) and test and trace.

Sadly, the T&T is not currently effective and cannot be relied upon, so it is now more incumbent upon people to 'do the right thing'. The Government are putting the responsibility back to the public (dangerous at a time where you are sending mixed messages!). Let's see if the public is up to the task...if not then there will be a rise in infection and possibly a further lockdown.

I’m so confused.

Can I go out, if so, who with and where and for how long?

Can I go to work? What about if my work isn’t open, do I have to find another job?

If I come within 2m of someone showing symptoms do I self isolate and what about my family, do they isolate as well?

Can I go to the beach and beauty spots and join in with the crowds?
