He probably won't appear. He never usually does. Although he has tried to rig it in his favour.

Utterly disgusting. Ellwood is the one Tory MP remaining in Parliament who I actually genuinely like and respect, someone who proved what sort of man he is when put in a position we all wish we never were. That someone like him is denied the chance to question someone like Johnson speaks volumes.

Its also kind of outrageous that more of the media hasnt picked up on this.

finally lol at them not even wanting Tugendhat to question him

Well I mean the sleuth of rubbish in the right wing press has been absolutely embarrassing and insulting to be honest. Article after article about how it's time for lazy teachers to get back to school. As you say, schools haven't closed to begin with.

I mean I would love to know who these idiots who write this stuff think teachers the key workers children?

It was wholly unnecessary the sort of things weve seen written and will have undoubtedly and understandably got teachers backs up. Rather than leaking nonsense why dont they try to have constructive discussions about safety with their elected officials? Surely that's a preferential approach.

Totally agree, but what should have been a decision made at the top and based on advice from SAGE, the CMO and CSA, was seen as an opportunity by the Unions to stir up trouble. Then Everyman and his dog decided that they too would decide on school openings or not. It turned political and it shouldn’t have been like that......

This is an excellent read, particularly for anyone interested in context of why policy and regulatory frameworks fail in the current political system that does not want to accept any form of accountability for its actions or lack of.

It draws primarily on Grenfell, but uses a number of different points of learning to address the current response to Covid-19.

This is a little snippet..

The advice from SAGE is that the balance between going back to school vs long term mental health effects is a difficult one. There is 'no risk free solution'.

So it's down to individual choice for parents as to which risk they are more comfortable accepting (without in many instances knowing the details) and teachers, who will be knowingly increasing their personal risk by going into a classroom where the requirement for distancing is reduced and they increase their expose through viral load knowing that the educational CSA made the decision to rubber stamp schools opening without having read the scientific basis for the decisions...

They are right to have concerns.

Ultimately the decision to open schools isn't framed around educational necessity, it's an economic one.

....Johnson appearing before today’s Liaison Committee should be of interest, although as I posted some days ago, I’d like to see Cummings being interrogated.
The people who were expected to be most critical of Johnson and the government have not been invited, so I wouldn't expect anything too extreme.Another example of them "controlling the narrative".

thanks for that, I especially like this bit in the report:

· Developing a sense of chronic unease and understanding the risks associated with low probability, high impact events.

... because its something that is emphatically true

Jenrick passed the buck onto the police over fines for driving for emergency reasons. This lot are ridiculously bad. No wonder cummings walks all over them.
