Welcome back Wayne
But Pete the issue is if you up the intake 3,4,5 x over it obviously poses different questions doesnt it? A classroom with 5 or 6 kids in is vastly different to one with 30 kids in. Parents will understandably be worried about about happens in such situations.
I spoke to my mum (a teacher and a union rep) and she put forward the suggestion weeks ago about just bringing the summer holidays forward. I have no idea why something like that wasnt seriously considered. Have a 10 week summer holidays, teachers on a rotation basis and work for a mid July return. Surely that makes more sense?
I reckon about 1/4 to 1/3rd of our primary school are already in attendance, now they will take all the remnants of year 1 and the remnants of year 6, so probably 1/2 the school In attendance. They also have a large hall and gym that can be utilised as classrooms. I honestly think no one will worry and they will just go back, but we will find out on Monday. I know that if they had been letting my own granddaughters year back, even though I’d rather she stay at home for the next 3 months, that she too would be going back.
I obviously agree with just pulling forward the holidays....
