But Pete the issue is if you up the intake 3,4,5 x over it obviously poses different questions doesnt it? A classroom with 5 or 6 kids in is vastly different to one with 30 kids in. Parents will understandably be worried about about happens in such situations.

I spoke to my mum (a teacher and a union rep) and she put forward the suggestion weeks ago about just bringing the summer holidays forward. I have no idea why something like that wasnt seriously considered. Have a 10 week summer holidays, teachers on a rotation basis and work for a mid July return. Surely that makes more sense?

I reckon about 1/4 to 1/3rd of our primary school are already in attendance, now they will take all the remnants of year 1 and the remnants of year 6, so probably 1/2 the school In attendance. They also have a large hall and gym that can be utilised as classrooms. I honestly think no one will worry and they will just go back, but we will find out on Monday. I know that if they had been letting my own granddaughters year back, even though I’d rather she stay at home for the next 3 months, that she too would be going back.

I obviously agree with just pulling forward the holidays....

They keep saying stupid things that they cant live up to. 100,000 tests a day (failed), tracing app (apparently gone awol), rescinding fines (highly unlikely), 200,000 tests a day by 1st June (no chance), procuring ppe (disastrous), reopening schools (has huge opposition). If cummings is considered vital and excellent at his job one cant imagine how bad it would be when he is inevitably booted out.

Aren’t we meant to have a world beating test, track, trace and isolate system up and running by next week as well?

Unless there are other things that provide protection, not much herd immunity recorded so far in my area.
We report very low SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence in two San Francisco Bay Area populations. Seropositivity was 0.26% in 387 hospitalized patients admitted for non-respiratory indications and 0.1% in 1,000 blood donors.

I’m still angry following the madness over the weekend, particularly yesterday’s charade. What has Cummings got on the oafish toff we call our PM? There is something else fishy here. Why would a whole cabinet put themselves through this public parade of humiliation?
Indeed, gove seems quite happy to make an absolute show of himself

There isn't much evidence across the world.

Seroprelevance is circulating around 4-10% even in places that haven't had a great deal of restriction in place.

Italy 5-6%
Spain 5-6%
Sweden 5-6%
Denmark 1%

I'm not sure it was ever an effective strategy as in order to achieve it you're effectively along to let 1% of the population die and leave massive long lasting consequences for others.

I‘m not sure who you believe is working against the teachers, who as I say have been working anyway....

Well I mean the sleuth of rubbish in the right wing press has been absolutely embarrassing and insulting to be honest. Article after article about how it's time for lazy teachers to get back to school. As you say, schools haven't closed to begin with.

I mean I would love to know who these idiots who write this stuff think teachers the key workers children?

It was wholly unnecessary the sort of things weve seen written and will have undoubtedly and understandably got teachers backs up. Rather than leaking nonsense why dont they try to have constructive discussions about safety with their elected officials? Surely that's a preferential approach.
