I was thinking perhaps it's a consequence of the rise in popularity. When it was generally a sport for loners and weirdos, you looked out for each other. As you say, now it seems as much about showing off how much money you have.

This is it... When my dad used to drive me to races he was astonished. He was a semi pro cricketer in the 70s, played for Lancashire Bs and some really good club sides. Anyway, he told me that cycling was nothing like the experience he had and that we were all "Introverted weirdos". He had a point, like.

I've not seen or read anything about COVID-19 cases in care homes being due to visitors. I've seen and read loads saying it was primarily caused by the government's decision to send people from hospitals to care homes without testing them.
Yeah. I read the government sent a memo out to all hospitals ordering them to get rid of all the oldies to care homes and to make sure they weren't tested beforehand so there wouldn't be any come back.

Unlike my neighbours who are currently having a BBQ outside the front of their house with at least 3 other families there.

Utter gobshites and i hope they all get the runs.
Why don't you report them mate. You obviously don't like them anyway and they are gobshites as you say. They deserve a visit from the boys in blue. Haven't they done this before?

Not according to every news outlet I have read about it on.

They all specifically say Kawasaki disease.
Then I’d say it’s a media reporting issue rather than a real issue. There’s a lot of noise, chatter and all-round bollocks being spouted.

BBC news reporting it as Kawasaki-like disease but completely new????

what outlets are saying it’s actually Kawasaki disease? link me up

Obviously I could.
But they would deffo know it's me.
I've had all sorts with them before, and when I kicked off it was them who called the police on me !
Bizzies showed up and saw it was me and it was amusing as I know them all through work.
The Mrs has put the radio on to take the edge off for me and it's the best selling albums of 1985.
Didn't know Foreigner was so popular.

My eldest has travelled from Liverpool down here as well today and I'm absolutely delighted to have him back so the wife would kill me if I kicked tonight.

Know I can be a bit of a Debbie Downer on this thread (don’t know long term health impacts, antibody testing showing only limited herd immunity etc) but one area I have much more optimism is vaccines/drugs/procedures that alleviate symptoms as scientists in the field seem pretty confident and there are multiple routes being explored if one turns out to be a dud.

The Oxford team are making significant progress, testing on apes has seen the vaccine protect them from the virus or rather stopping the virus from replicating. Saw this published today:

As we know they are in phase 1 human trials also.

The U.K. Government have got very bullish in public about the progress by the team.

The team themselves are very confident as scientists go.

The number of deaths in care home is absolutely tragic.

A major, major inquiry needs to be held after this to get some reasons for these horrid failings.

An absolute scandal the way the elderly have been treated, with all types of shenanigans going on, and still happening..

What the treatment of the elderly and the resultant deaths in care homes, nursing homes and care in the community, has shown is that the NHS for all, under the auspices of the Department of Health and Social Care, was overwhelmed. No wonder there are relatives launching legal action.
