Was talking to a mate who was informed by his doctor to self isolate, which he has for about 8/9 weeks,he is a ST holder been going for 50years + and he said to me, "he doesn't think he will be going again to Goodison as he's scared of sitting by someone whose a carrier" bit sad that, his life ain't going to be the same, Just thought I would mention.
I think you'll find a lot of the older generation with the same feelings.

Just cant see it mate - time they do all the trials and then dish it out to the world 6 billion + population - its been around months and most of us havent even been given a test yet!

Highly doubt the non key worker peasants will see it anytime soon.
You might well be right, but I don't think it is healthy for likes of us who don't really have a foothold in this area to be thinking in absolutes. There are some insanely talented and dedicated folk working on this and they may yet surprise us all

The previous fastest vaccine ever developed was mumps which took 4 years. But that was in 1960. This is literally a new world in vaccine development and I'm really excited to see how quickly it gets done. The Chinese had sequenced the virus within 3 weeks of the proverbial hitting the fan, which was incredibly quick.

COVID cases in care homes will have been primarily caused by three things :-

  • Infected hospital patients introducing the virus
  • Staff introducing the virus and
  • Visitors introducing the virus

Visitors are probably the smallest contributor there ( purely based on time spent in the care home ), but it's really anyone's guess as to which was the worst cause between dischargees and staff. That's not having a pop at staff, but it's a fact of life that some will have, unintentionally taken the virus into homes and spread it, whereas the effect of discharging patients to homes could have been mitigated much better.

“Illinois is closed and we’ve been wanting to get out,” said Castano Penn, a Chicagoan who works at a senior living center and was not wearing a mask Saturday as he strolled the streets of Lake Geneva. "I know it’s probably bad," he said. "I’m just kind of done with it all.”

They all look the same, the lycra clad divvies. I leave my recycling (sic) boxes out on Monday evening; every day since this, they have been topped up with random plastic drink bottles and assorted crap.
Swmmers wear speedos, runners wear vests and skimpy shorts, bikers wear leathers and space helmets. Cyclists wear appropriate gear for the activity.
So why the "lycra clad divvies"?
You would appear to have a predudice there.

I've just learned to ignore this stuff. There are various reasons people hate cyclists, some we bring on ourselves others I have no control over. So I just ignore it.

Most are sound, but there are a hard core of utter bell ends in my experience.

Family friend has a bike shop on Merseyside.
Was debating shutting down when lockdown was announced for his own health.
He stayed open.
£25k he took in week one.
I kid you not.

Even now the bikes he describes as 'fit for all users' sell out immediately.
You can still get a £2k road bike off him like, but he's absolutely coined it in the last few weeks and I'm made up for him.

Know I can be a bit of a Debbie Downer on this thread (don’t know long term health impacts, antibody testing showing only limited herd immunity etc) but one area I have much more optimism is vaccines/drugs/procedures that alleviate symptoms as scientists in the field seem pretty confident and there are multiple routes being explored if one turns out to be a dud.

It's not being called Kawasaki disease, it's being called PIMS or something like that. The symptoms are similar to Kawasaki but it's not, its unique and novel.
Not according to every news outlet I have read about it on.

They all specifically say Kawasaki disease.
