My granddaughter was born in November.we built a great rapport.she had a beaming smile every time she seen me. After this lockdown she now doesn't seem to recognise me. Heartbreaking. Koff covid

The number of people in hospitals with coronavirus is coming down steadily. Down 1800 from this day a week ago, about 15% down or so.

Probably as good an indicator as any.

170 deaths today, although it's a weekend figure. But it is a good bit lower than last weekend too.

They all look the same, the lycra clad divvies. I leave my recycling (sic) boxes out on Monday evening; every day since this, they have been topped up with random plastic drink bottles and assorted crap.

Do lots of FaceTime! Not as good as the real thing but she will recognise you and your voice for later on when you can meet up again.

I have little to no faith in a vaccine been found before 2021 - my only hope is I've already had it and have immunity even for just a year or two or that some anti viral medicine is found to help treat it.

At the time this thing was taking hold, and then in the early days of the ICU admissions, it was all about the NHS. Which having seen the issues in Italy and Spain, was understandable.

By that time, it was too late I am afraid. Care homes have so many folk coming and going, one visitor with the virus was all it needed.

They were testing peoples temperatures before they allowed visitors months ago, which is all the help they got. Right at the start of this they had a care home diary on the BBC and they forecast what a disaster this would become because of the government guidance and again their absolute failure on an epic scale.. This is a difficult one for you to defend I'm afraid.

On a good downward trend here in Ireland, 64 New cases and 10 deaths, phase 1 of reopening the country starts tomorrow, let's hope the progress is maintained with the tens of thousands back to work.
