Apparently kids in our borough are given a device of some kind if they lack any at home, and I believe a data connection if they have poor internet. Obviously it still doesn't help if their environment is highly cramped, noisy and all that (or indeed if they have no food to eat), but it's one less thing to worry about.
Absolutely, and it would be great if that was something which was accessed nationwide. The government announced plans to deliver 200,000 laptops to deprived areas a few weeks ago. We haven’t seen one.

Aye, I don't know how our borough is doing it, whether it's their own funding or some external source akin to the Dolly Parton thing for books.

Big question for Ireland is why are the number of deaths on those over 80+ higher in comparison to countries like Italy, Spain, Canada and South Korea who had worse outbreaks and health systems were more under pressure then our own.

Subjectively, do older people in Ireland have more comorbidities or did we not protect our residential care enough, is it decsion making in terms of access to acute care and clinical trajectory. Else wise it could be the reporting of the Data, we are reporting absolutely everything. Time for reflection and lesson lerned as we entered the next phase.

Clearer anecdotal evidance internationally emerging, challenging the myth that Covid does not impact children.

Some startling stats:

Now as a largely complaint society we will be going face covering on Monday after marginally lifting our lockdown.

Some Irish retailers are a head of the game.

20 odd yoyo for a trendy face covering. Its going to be the thing.

How can 1 disease cause another seperate?

This COVID seems a freak virus in everything from its effects to wide range of symptoms.

When did the Irish become so tame lad? lol

Some good graphics in this simulation

I'm probably subconciously filtering out couples who don't fit my preconceptions, but every time I go to the supermarket the few couples shopping almost always seem to have at least one of them in a risk group ( obese or elderly ), which is frankly bizarre and suggests some sort of deathwish.

The Asian approach appears to be to fumigate the children on the way in.

I can see the reaction to that going down well on GOT if the government here suggested that !

So much is still unknown, however one characteristic seems to be a different impact developmentally. In a way the world up to this point has neglected ages, were the population isn't large i.e. the vast majority of the population range is 20-60, minors and older people and the specific needs of that developmental group are only now beginning to be looked at appreciated. Essentially the world has been caught with pants down while covid wasn't a thing just 5 months ago and the immediate response was to protect the majority of the population. We now need to look at its impact across the life cycle. Covid is evolving to, it wants to survive.
