Being two metres away does not stop you inhaling the virus through the air when you are in a confined space with two dozen people.

I'm sure some parents are desperate. Doesn't justify risking other people's lives.

If you're so eager to get schools back up and running, volunteer to be an assistant ? I'm sure they would appreciate the offer.

Nah you are ok.. i have to actually go to work!

The issue of face mask wearing in this country underlines exactly how this government have approached the virus: no conviction, no clear instruction - juts a vague and ad hoc attitude to a killer disease.

It's an attitude not being repeated anywhere else in any major European state.

We have been cursed at this moment of crisis to have been landed with talentless people who have an ideological axe to grind, and they'll accept hundreds of thousands of deaths if they're not stopped.

Anyway, just ignore their ineptitide and get a 'kin face covering on you if you wander out.

It;s not compulsory to wear a mask outside in most European countries Dave, not being the UK is not a guarantee of competence.

I‘m teaching a 7 year old. She’s coping with a grumpy granddad quite well really. We do a bit of teaching or joint work then I set her off reading, writing, maths or whatever. It gives me five minutes to catch up on what is happening on here, before I start the next session. Comprehension next. Now that she is used to not being in school I would prefer that they just forget about school until September and start properly......

Next week she starts chimney sweep lessons to get the economy moving.

Yes, unlike others who can only muster or resort to childish name calling.

You might disagree with my take on things, fair enough, but at least act like an adult and debate things in a grown up manner.

There is a right to freedom of speech is there not.
Yes, but it works both ways and don't be surprised if people tell you your posts are stupid.

You might want to reduce the name calling by actually doing perhaps even the smallest bit of research and critical thinking.

Quite frankly the grief I’ve received on here today for having an opinion and promoting debate is disgusting.

Some have shown themselves up to be what they really are.

I don’t expect or want people to agree and this is an emotive subject. However, no one should be shouted down or insulted like I have today.

The UK is a democratic society with freedom of speech and movement.

Please Respect it.

i think it's pretty easy for students to be 2m away from teachers at all time.

How you considered that some parents may be desperate for kids to go back to school because of there work?
One of my wife's schools has classrooms that struggle to fit thirty children in without social distancing (barely enough space to walk around), so how can they?

I suspect you may not have young children of your own either because from my experience my children, at the age of four and five, really wouldn't have grasped it.

Also from what I can tell, schools are not against the idea of opening at all, but rather they have questions with the time scale and/or lack of PPE.

When we still have roughly four to five hundred reported deaths a day, I do find it worrying that the government would act to raise the r0 rate by 0.2 - 0.5*

*Imperial College London modelling that they're working off.
