Nobody’s bothered what you think you backward dullard

Resorting to name calling is the lowest form of intelligence kind sir.

We are all guilty of dropping to that level now and again but come on son give your head a wobble.

They might have a much lower population but they are still an island that can control who enters just by testing on arrival quarantining and tracing the virus
It’s not just population or density. It’s geography and daily immigration etc.

It’s an island, yeah, but I’m not sure you can compare.

You really are an ignorant bellend

Really or am I considering the bigger picture.

We might all be ok but there are thousands of kids living in poverty and even worse, suffering abuse.

The only way some kids can stay safe is by going to school.

We also need to consider those that can’t get any education at home... where are they going to end up in the future.

Some scientists are reporting that the virus is hardly in the community anymore... the figures are mainly coming from care home settings. If that’s the case it is safe or safer for teachers to return to their paid jobs.

I don't know the answer, so this is a purely open question. We've had a lockdown for however long now, but have known that at some point it will end and (from a schools perspective) children will return. Schools have also had a situation whereby many seem to have retained a (reduced) service for children of key workers, during which they could perhaps have experimented with approaches on this smaller student body that could then be expanded when schools open more fully.

Has that sort of thing been going on?
The Government have last night issued very specific guidance about how schools are to be organised if they reopen on the 1st June. Any experience, experimentation and lessons learned from having key worker children in school is valuable of course but it seems that the Government have decided upon the way they want things done.

I think the rotation thing is a good idea tbh. I’m in two minds about it because I still think it’s too early and part of me would rather they just sack it off til September but, having a 6 year old, it’s so important to be around peers, and in a classroom setting and being taught by a professional rather than two slightly frazzled and stressed parents.

I‘m teaching a 7 year old. She’s coping with a grumpy granddad quite well really. We do a bit of teaching or joint work then I set her off reading, writing, maths or whatever. It gives me five minutes to catch up on what is happening on here, before I start the next session. Comprehension next. Now that she is used to not being in school I would prefer that they just forget about school until September and start properly......

My sister teaches young kids and has a soon to be 4 year old starting school in September. I, and more importantly my mum, would rather she not go back to work and my niece finish nursery for a month if it’s not safe, particularly as the little one is susceptible to bugs

I don’t see any clamour for MPs to return to parliament so why the hell should teachers and school kids be sacrificed?

Something else to consider, of course, is that it's well known that poorer children regress (intellectually) over the school holidays, so a prolonged absence from school will have a significant impact on the poorest members of society.
I'm watching Jeremy Vine and they're talking about younger kids going back to school. Dr Sarah Jarvis, who will probably be on celebrity get me out of here in 2 years, was saying that the children in deprived areas will be worst effected and many struggle to get back even after a normal summer break. Another panellist on the show, who is an ex page 3 WAG, had already said there is no way she is sending her kids back to school until it's proven to be safe. In response to Jarvis's comments she said she was self teaching her youngest, but that she had brought in a private tutor for her eldest who is 10. the fact that she was only confirming the doctors comments went right over her head. lol

That’s kinda how I feel. I feel a bit sorry for her. She’s doing great though. They are so resilient.
But you do worry about long term effects.
Work wise the school have been great. It’s just navigating the teaching of it. It’s so easy to guide her a little too much.
Hope it’s going ok at your end.

I hope you're teaching her to keep well away from that murdering cum Boris Johnson lol

I agree, the MP’s need to show willing and get back to parliament too. In fact they should do that before sending the teachers back to work.

It’s an emotive subject but there are two sides to the story here. People need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

I’m no Tory but I think some are politicising this rather than looking at what’s best for all concerned.

Unless the scientists come out and say school is not safe then we need to get the kids going back to school.
