Reducing capacity makes the problem worse.

Having less tubes and buses running does not discourage people from trying to get to work and feed their families.

They should be mandating that masks are worn upon entry to stations and they should have as many trains and buses running as possible.
There is a lot of office based work in the city's being done from home so the demand on public transport is not going to be as great, there just has to be some form of limiting capacity to minimise contact between passengers, sanitizer and masks should be mandatory. A proper Govt incharge would have made sure of this, they should be giving out bottles of sanitizer or atleast making sure the shops in the station have plenty of stock at cheap prices, 40p a bottle in Aldi.

I'd make anybody using public transport forced to wear a mask and carry hand sanitizer, without them you don't get on the bus/train, signs up sanitize your hands before you get on and depart.

They have to dramatically reduce capacity as well to try distance people, don't know if that is going on, I saw footage on the news from Kings Cross and it was quite busy.

They can't enforce mask wearing etc. on the buses at least. Not without putting extra staff at the middle doors where there isn't space and it wouldn't be safe for them.

(Currently you can only get on buses at the middle of back doors. The front doors are out of use and the front section of the buses taped off in order to protect the drivers).

The issue of face mask wearing in this country underlines exactly how this government have approached the virus: no conviction, no clear instruction - juts a vague and ad hoc attitude to a killer disease.

It's an attitude not being repeated anywhere else in any major European state.

We have been cursed at this moment of crisis to have been landed with talentless people who have an ideological axe to grind, and they'll accept hundreds of thousands of deaths if they're not stopped.

Anyway, just ignore their ineptitide and get a 'kin face covering on you if you wander out.

Govt should get the message out at least, mandatory, anyone wanting to use public transport must carry masks and hand sanitizer.

You know, just sensible common sense rules in place from a proper Govt showing leadership.

The death rate is falling, as is the infection rate, I have no problem with people now being allowed out as much as they want.

The key is to keep your distance, and can people be trusted to do that, I think if the Govt said you could meet more than one other person then there is the risk and temptation that people will start to mingle and gather in groups.

I think the slight relaxing the Govt in England has done is just about spot on for me, I'd like to see them drilling home the keep your distance thing though.

Yep, we can wail at the government all we want but it's all down to us now to adhere to social distancing, wear some sort of face covering etc.

Official data by ONS released...this is the real scandal, disgraceful the way the Govt has catered for the care industry.

No need to cut or raise taxes, issue bonds to the public and private companies, this is a guaranteed investment for people, leave it maybe 10 years before you can cash them in, but the longer it's left the more your investment will return.
Good idea mate. They've had war bonds in the past. Why not a Coronabond.? Issue them for maybe fixed terms of 5, 10 and 15 years, offer a decent rate of interest, and make them completely free of all income and capital gains taxes. The latter will encourage the very rich to invest in these things in big numbers, and will make them very marketable on the bond markets too.

There should be some sort of bright idea scheme for Joe Public to make suggestions to the government (keep it clean lads). I'll tell you now that you can't always rely on these highly paid government types to come up with some things that are just so obvious and common sense.

Whatever your thoughts or opinions on the end of lockdown all of the UK should be singing from the same hymn sheet.

If Scotland and Wales want to play silly buggers I would threaten to restrict their funding if I were Boris.
That would see them fall into line quite quickly.

They are both countries in their own right, therefore should be able to put restrictions in place that differ to what the Tory government want implemented.

My wife is an SNA and that was one of the first things she was told by teachers
Every August its Vitamin C and other supplements plus natural yoghurt from then until schools close in June
Its a breeding ground for diseases .
But virus's are all different. One of the reasons these younger kids are going back first is that they are the least likely to catch a strong dose of the virus. Whilst there is evidence that they can catch the virus, there is so far no evidence to confirm that they actually pass it on.

Of course the other reason that this age group is going back first is so their parents are also released from babysitting duties and can return to work too, and I wish the government would be more up front about this rather than treating us like idiots.
