Which I'm fine with - his choice. But to claim safety of the children in particular is absurd. Children under 10 reportedly are unaffected by the virus and don't pass it on. He's on the wrong side of this argument.

Children do pass the virus on as they do pass on colds and other snivels. Anyone involved in an educational establishment has a duty of care to those in that establishment. Joe Anderson is right to not want to open schools up as are the unions who disagree with the government. Leave as it is, is the message from Joe Anderson and the unions.
