It goes back to what I said here though mate;

A lot of it is tribalism and being deliberately obtuse.

There's no perfect solution or fix, but its common sense to me that they'll gradually ease restrictions. Take the first point;

* 4 year olds can go to school but university students who...

4 year olds are dependant/parents who need to go to work.
University students can study remotely.

Will any country allow all schools and all year groups/students to return the same day?! That would seem foolish to me.

There are lots of better solutions than the one we have; that’s why countries have had far better outcomes than us and why (to my knowledge) no one else is lifting their restrictions without being able to detect rises in infection rates.

Spot on. A person goes back to work on Wednesday and working with colleagues. He or she entitled to meet a close personal friend in the park. The person might have vulnerable parents so wont be meeting them. It's all common sense. We cant keep full lockdown.

I'm not sure what everyone is confused with the latest government changes. It's not rocket science.

Because there's a lot of dog whisltles that accompany it that make it nonsensical.

The Chancellor stating that furlough cant go on...then you add in the statement last night about people who can get to work should go.....then adding the point that they should stay off public transport to get there.

You're right, it's not rocket scinece, it's alchemy.

No one said we should lock down until a vaccine is found, but the vast majority of sensible people said there had to be certain conditions met before reopening.

The most vital of these is contact tracing and an effective test regime, which will give PHE the means to identify clusters before they can spread too far and infect too many people. That needs an effective app, people to trace and people to visit and check / do tests.

We do not have this yet, which means PHE will only be able to recommend lockdown starting again based on data they do have - which will probably be hospital admission rates. Doing that will mean delays of 8-10 days from infection to admission, which will put us back to the point we were around March 20th (ie: about to watch another 30000 people die).

Opening up before we have this is criminally negligent.

Yet many on here have said they won’t use the App. So next I expect an argument about the quality of the App etc etc. as an excuse not to use it . Anything really just to keep kicking the ball down the road. If Boris said lockdown continues, you will complain, if he says it is a step by step back to work, you will complain. If the sodding virus disappeared I would fully expect you to complain. It really is time for people to grow up........

...not only not detecting infections and testing for them, but a testing system that's failed even to meet its own puny targets....and only met them one day so far.

It's criminal negligence, and its the government and financial institutions at the heart of it.

It's all utter nonsense now.
We can see one other person from another household but not two people from that household.
So, if someone doesn't live with his parents then he could see one parent in then morning and the other in the afternoon. So...the first parent could infect the son anyway, or the second one could. And if the son is a carrier then he simply infects both parents a couple of hours apart, or gives it to one parent who goes home and infects the other.
The rules should allow you to meet anyone in another household if distancing can be applied. Meeting only one person in another household is a pointless restriction as that person then goes home and passes the infection on to the rest of that household anyway.

Johnson didn't say I shouldn't jump off a cliff...

I think it would be best to be accompanied by a Lawyer who can discuss a myriad of potential hazardous actions that you could do that was not covered in a five minute TV presentation. I’m just amazed that some of the people on here would be able to find their way to work in the daylight.....

So if I go to the park to meet my mate (staying 2m apart), he goes to the park at the same time to see our other mate, he does the same, he does the same. We could just have a mass gathering all spread out where we're only technically in the park to see 1 person which is allowed. Hmm.
He stated yesterday you could do this providing you all sing 'Kum Ba Yah'

Andy Burnham advising all on his patch to ignore Johnson's BS update and stick with the 'Stay at Home' message.

I'd like to see that Kopite Rotheram do the same here for Liverpool City Region.
