Got Raab waffling on now that it's actually Wednesday that the lower classes go back to work not today.. Astounding a pre planned address to the nation cannot even convey a simple message of when.

Wednesday is when the furlough money will end and back to the three day wait for sick pay. Plus the sack for not returning to work and back to DWP harassing the weak, disabled, vulnerable and the poor claimants. Also back to austerity and the 130 000 plus preventable deaths. In other words, the class war is upped again to make the people pay for Johnson's, Cummings and the 'experts' cruel and inhuman herd immunity experiment.

That's not true. There's never been a full scale lockdown encouraged. There have been hundreds of thousands not observing lockdown. The lockdown should have been enforced as elsewhere. Coppers and troops on the streets if need be as in France, Spain and Italy.

aren’t enough of either to do that though, nor did they (until lately) have the PPE to do that either

something else that can be laid at their door

That the bloke who invented Social Distancing then didnt do it himself?
He'd had covid already so was almost certainly immune / not infectious, and I think his girlfriend came over.
Not right, as he more than anyone needs to be seen to be setting an example, but it wasn't wild, IDGAF irresponsibility.

The blokes got a lot on his plate (his counterpart in Germany has talked about receiving death threats) . An understandable lapse to want to see his partner IMHO.

The furlough is set until June.

They will not end furlough for people who are in industries such as leisure/hospitality which cannot open.

I, or rather my missus, has found the DWP to be brilliant since she found cause to need it.

I think the international community needs to find its voice on the UK.

The WHO and all responsible governments need to be condemning the UK Government's attempt to turn the country into a laboratory chamber which places the whole population at risk of death or ill health.

The furlough scheme will 100% not end on Wednesday. It has already been extended till 30 June at least. I actually think it will be extended further for lots of workers and I hope that's the case.

Please don't say things which are clearly not true.

From my experience, I have nothing but good things to say about the response from the treasury. My expectations were very low but the job retention scheme was extremely smooth and has processed claims for about 6m workers - no mean feat.

The self employed scheme seems to be a bit hit and miss mind. Heard nowt yet, but appreciate its a lot more complicated and labour intensive to do.

Ministers are expected to extend the state bankrolling of wages until the end of September, albeit at a reduced rate of 60pc, while also topping up the pay packets of staff brought back to work on a part-time basis. Changes to the furlough scheme could be announced by Rishi Sunak, the Chancellor, today.
