The argument would be that each eligible child is linked with a free school meal and a lump sum which is paid to the school, and so during any enforced time off, that should still be provided for by the government. I do worry that so many children would go hungry.
FSM and PP funding are not one and the same.

The school get the £1,320 premium money academic year throughout their time in school, even if their situations change over time. It's apparently called Ever 6.

Free School Meals is means tested and constantly changing with a flat rate of £2.30: some schools apparently make profit on this; many schools make a loss.

You'd expect the latter could be reallocated, but with many school catering outsourced some of that money would be contractually linked to paying for that.

or do what some people who used to go to the Mayday in Croydon used to do, and drink the hand-gel*

* this is not an actual recommendation to drink the hand-gel
I've been in an ICU unit ( as a patient ) where an alcoholic has drank the hand gel.
Not even joking.

Yeah, what I mean is that regardless, the FSM and PP has been attached to that pupil for the year 40 weeks to ensure they are fed (in the case of FSM), and can close the gap between themselves and more privileged counterparts. If they’re accessing 35 weeks of school because they’re shut due to the virus, then it’s up to the government to ensure that those children who would be in receipt of that funding can access nutritional food etc while they’re not in school.

So ignoring health warnings and dying having fun and congregating is dying with pride.

Does that mean old people being careful and trying to self-isolate but unfortunately catch it should be ashamed?

I stay well clear of the Curren Affairs part of GOT and whoppers like you are the reason why.

Don’t be like that, you’re young, you have a lot to learn Luke......

our ex health minister (Jeremy Hunt) for 6 years doesn't agree with the government and questions their evidence

think we can knock off the idealogical debate @peteblue

But Hunt is a politician and is not, as far as I’m aware, a medical or scientific professional and was beaten into the dust by Boris for the leadership. Boris is, I believe, just following the professionals advice.....

Totally agree and I assume the government will cover this......

Unfortunately the same professionals that stated it was ok to sit next to someone for 90 minutes with no space between you whatsoever. Five minutes later the same professionals say you must stay 2 metres apart from anyone you are assisting with their groceries etc....because that’s what brits do.

It may make sense to some but their reasoning is beyond my addled brain.

A lass at work today, with zero knowledge of stocks and shares, gave her financial advisor cousin £10k today to invest...

If she's doing it as a medium to long term thing, it'll likely pay off.

Personally, I'd of split it into three and invested a third now, then the other thirds at 4 to 8 week fixed intervals - all in low cost trackers or, even better, decent quality investment trusts like City of London to limit the risk.

Mind you, I'm down about 25% since late Jan so wtfdik ?
