No idea tbh Bruce, and I doubt anyone else does really. Young children tend not to suffer too much from Coronavirus apparently, but obviously can spread it. Personally I would close down secondary school, where the kids are old enough not to need parents at home and keep junior/infants in school where parents otherwise would have to stop work.....

I don't know if this is already posted esrlier but at 11.30 am the Irish Government banned all indoor gatherings of more than 100 and all outdoor of more than 500.

This affects Church services including weddings and funerals as well.

All schools and colleges closed from 6.30 pm.

GAA and League of Ireland have suspended all training and matches.

Initially all of these measures are until 29th March.

My belief is this virus will get a lot worse before any improvement and vaccine believed to be at least 12 months away according to Deputy CMO.

I don't understand what UK Government is waiting for.

Yep, that’s what’ll keep me alive -
Alcohol @70% kills germs aka this hand gel that everyone wants.

Jack Daniels ingested at regular intervals and can double as hand sanitizer (as if).

By the time the virus overtakes me I won’t give a damn.

or do what some people who used to go to the Mayday in Croydon used to do, and drink the hand-gel*

* this is not an actual recommendation to drink the hand-gel

same in most places its the phrase the slamming the stable door shut after the horse has bolted springs to mind - EG they can see Italy in meltdown with this virus and just carry on with crufts horse racing and football etc and holidays to dangerous infected areas.its all about money and the economy fact....
I actually understood 95% of that
Quietly pleased with myself @COYBL25

From what I heard today there are a couple of things. The first is that they actually want everyone to be exposed to it to build up the herd immunity. Secondly they want the NHS not to be overrun so they want the inevitable cases to be spread out as far as possible. Now I’m assuming that they’ve done the modelling and worked this out. To me it feels like the Irish government is making a political decision and the U.K. is making a pragmatic medical decision.....but really, who knows....

Is it even accurate tho?

I've heard experts say that hand washing has a minimal impact on negating spread because it is an air-bourne virus, making large congregations of people in confined spaces a sure way to propagate its spread.

So someone is talking out of their arse.
That would be Boris ,he has form for that kind of thing

Wife works with people trying to get over their addictions and they had to stop using that gel for that reason....sorry for those struggling with addiction and I’ll try not to be so flippant in the future.

I've just asked the missus and she said that in deprived areas, where the issue would really be, you can quite easily get up 40% and even higher than that.

I know that our food bill goes up in the summer when the children are at home, so I suspect non-FSM families (like ourselves) would also have to fork out more.

We're fortunate enough to able to afford that additional burden, but I suspect many families wouldn't be able to.
There was some talk about using pupil premium funding to potentially support those children through vouchers/food. I’m not sure of the logistics of that because quite a lot of it is already accounted for. Perhaps the government would have to stump up, but this is a Johnson/Cummings government we’re talking about.

I've just had lunch with a mate that retired before Christmas knowing he had a decent share portfolio that would see him through a comfortable retirement.
As of this morning, that portfolio was worth 36% less than when he retired just 3 months ago. He knows it'll recover in time when all this blows over but he is rightfully very worried.
Should have gone into cash and then a low risk ARF
You do not gamble your pension money
