Fine, but now is not really the time is it......
Why isn't it? I'm pretty sure the Government and Civil Service aren't as a whole running round disinfecting surfaces and hurriedly filling in for people knocking off work sick.

Or do you really think a few pelters on Twitter and media criticism will markedly harm efforts to battle the virus?

I wonder how many children rely on school meals for at least one cooked meal each day?

True, but we all know this wasnt even so much as a thought when making the decisions.

Correct - they are not.

No, what I mean is that after this event attitudes may well change and the things we learn maybe taken on board. It’s just that perhaps, now is not the time....

I've just asked the missus and she said that in deprived areas, where the issue would really be, you can quite easily get up 40% and even higher than that.

I know that our food bill goes up in the summer when the children are at home, so I suspect non-FSM families (like ourselves) would also have to fork out more.

We're fortunate enough to able to afford that additional burden, but I suspect many families wouldn't be able to.

If a number of cabinet ministers and top civil-servants become isolated, it will be interesting to see how the mechanics of government are managed.

It reminds me of the whole nuclear and biological scares of the 70s and 80s.
Getting those mothballed Cold War bunkers ready.

An interesting comment from a scientist (I didn't catch his name) on Radio 4 this morning. The basic gist appeared to be that in and of itself banning large public gatherings wasn't about stopping the spread of the coronavirus, as it doesn't really spread that way anyway, but rather to convince the public that it's serious enough that they should be doing the hand hygiene stuff that does contribute to its spread.
its all an elaborate plot by the loo roll manufacturers

A lass at work today, with zero knowledge of stocks and shares, gave her financial advisor cousin £10k today to invest...

That was a brave thing to do! One of the first rules of investing is to never invest in something you don't understand. Hopefully her cousin knows what he is doing...

Money management / personal finance / investing and pension planning etc, should be taught in schools.

No-one else cares about your money as much as you do. Unless you have a complex financial situation and need a professional advisor, it can all be self-taught, if you're willing to put in the effort.
