The news that Tom Hanks has Coronavirus has convinced me that we should shut down the world immediately.

No one is safe if it can go after our most beloved of entertainers. I didn't even know Australia had that many cases.

Amazing to think a grand prix is going on with hundreds of thousands of people mixing from all different countries. We really need a plan to deal with these virus events as it is safe to say this one hasn't worked.

so what if Europeans travel to UK first and the fly to US? Is this ban based on location or ethnicity? A Spanish can fly from London to NY right? So it is meaningless I reckon.

You’d hope that when in the airport they can check if they’ve just had a flight to England from another country.

Will be interesting to see how people react to potential "distancing restrictions" if the virus doesn't die off and is here to stay

All well and good now but imagine we get to September, the summer hasnt killed it off nor has a vaccine been found - 4-5 months of no sporting events/concerts/race meetings or being aloud to go down the pub/restaurants will soon become very tedious for a lot of people.

I fear we are going to be turned into a population that literally lives to work and nothing else.

Lot of people I’ve spoken to have said if they’re told to self-isolate they’re not going to bother and they’ll try come to work. Some right stubborn arsewipes around isn’t there.

I imagine if you're implementing a draconian policy such niceties would not come in to it.

However, you could then look at the origin of their flight.

There is, of course, just the teeniest possibility that the Trump administration hasn't quite thought this all the way through.

They should have but look at other countries, they cancel flights to and from Italy and yet still allow Italians to arrive. Mindblowing.

An interesting comment from a scientist (I didn't catch his name) on Radio 4 this morning. The basic gist appeared to be that in and of itself banning large public gatherings wasn't about stopping the spread of the coronavirus, as it doesn't really spread that way anyway, but rather to convince the public that it's serious enough that they should be doing the hand hygiene stuff that does contribute to its spread.
