Spot on, it’s got nothing to do with the Government or the Police, it’s just a section of society that wants to do what it wants regardless.

They have no respect for authority in any form whatsoever and short of curfews etc will carry on regardless.

It's so bad around here now. 3 generations out in the park, picnics, couples walking together.

My gf is giving birth on Thursday, we've both not seen our parents other than shopping dropping off for months, her mum is self isolating to think about staying at ours to help after the operation, but they may not happen as she and her mum are BAME so gf is worried about getting the infection in hospital and passing it on to her. Then there is me not being able to be in the hospital for the 48hrs after the C-section. And then, there is our parents seeing our baby through a window.

Yet some still need to have a BBQ in the park.

People will use any excuse under the sun to justify their own care free behaviour. It's the way of the modern world and the media are making it far worse.
This 110%

TBH this government has left far too much down to personal responsibility. I can understand them wanting to do so, but it's now becoming clear that far too many people can't be trusted to do things themselves. So with the benefit of hindsight, they should have been more authoritarian from the outset, as most other European countries have been. The daft thing is, had they done that to start off with the same people would have been calling them fascists. lol

The scenes witnessed at supermarkets when all this began, told you all you needed to know about certain sections of our society. It’s all about themselves, nothing less.

Found out Thursday that my employer is ensuring that our office, 1 of 5 (can accommodate 3000 people) cant assure us of social distancing rules and are arranging for 66% of its staff to have laptop and work from home until at least end of year, most of us have been off for 5-6 weeks and of course there "shielders" etc within this number!

The remainder are all choosing to go into office. We currently employ over 16 thousand across the UK, so looks like the plan is to see out this year, make adjustments that can be made while actively encouraging Work From Home.

Not a massive surprise but as one of the UK leaders in financial sector, its indicative of how this will change the "office landscape" for many and pretty much permanently as companies evaluate the need for large costly offices etc.

Personally I am ok with Work from Home but will definitely miss the social interaction that we as "human beings" need!

It's a long haul ahead for so many and I count my blessings that for now I have an income, my thoughts are with those that have lost loved ones or are starting to feel the financial pinch!

Mate, I know it's easy for me to say because it isn't my missus, but they go to unbelievable lengths to make sure maternity units are free of the virus, and she will be safer there than practically anywhere else. And every rule has exceptions and this is one of them. If your missus is having a C section it will take at least 7 days to recover from that, never mind having a new born baby in tow. Take whatever help you can get. Sounds like you've all been very sensible with self isolating so I'm sure it'll be safe for the in law to come over and stay with you. You'll need her.

I'd love them to come up with more detail on the 5000+ new cases being announced daily. Where are the hot spots?, and I want specifics not regions like the North East or Scotland. If nothing else it may encourage people in those areas to stay at home.

The data for daily tests in what they call Pillar 1 is available somewhere, presumably on an nhs england site somewhere, though I forget exactly where.

However, recent tests almost always reflect the underlying trends, and you can see the hotspots for the overall figures at

Just switch to the UTLA or LTLA tabs for detailed rates per 100k population.

There's also a weekly surveillance report published at https://www.gov.uk/government/news/weekly-covid-19-surveillance-report-published from which our local rag seems to pull info on local hotspots.

But, even if they had a big publicity blitz in the hotspot areas, most of the knobheads in those areas presumably think they, and their families are invincible, and will continue to think that until one of them's on a CPAP in hospital.

It's not really the knobheads fault, many of them have effectively been abandoned by governments over the decades, left to rot, and know no better.

Latest in spain if anyone is interested on how other badly affected nations are planning

All these activities above won’t have time restrictions and mobility to carry any of them will be completely allowed during the duration of Phase 1. The mobility during phase 1 will be extended to the whole geographical unit taken into consideration for this de-escalation plan. In the case of Balearics the mobility will be granted in the whole territory inside each island.

Although, kindly note that, as it is in phase 0, there still will be time limitations for sport and walks, being as follows:

· General population (adults up to 70 years old) can do sport once a day in the following time frames – From 06:00h to 10:00h and 20:00h to 23:00h.

· Elderly people (from 70 years old) and dependent people will be able to go out for a walk, accompanied by 1 relative / caregiver in the following time frames – From 10:00h to 12:00h and 19:00h to 20:00h.

· Children up to 14 years will be able to go out accompanied by an adult living in the same household from 12:00h to 19:00h now.

***In Municipalities of less than 5.000 inhabitants these time frame limitations do not apply.

In regards navigation, please note that it still won’t be allowed whilst the Balearic Ports remain closed, which will be during the whole State of Alarm in Spain if no changes in regulations. At the moment the date set for the end of the State of Alarm is 24th of May, although with possibility to be extended further.

We really hope this information helps you, and for sure as soon as more information is available we will keep you posted.

So the new plan is more cycle lanes, wider pavements, and an electric scooter scheme?

Triffic. That will show em.

I kept checking the date and If I was on the right page reading the daily briefing, absolute spacemen, I can’t believe they are talking of walking and bikes. Utter madness. I hope for all the UK citizens sake lock down is continued tomorrow. It’s not safe under the present regime.

They are either off their rockers or know full well the Tube will be rammed when lockdown ends, the virus will run a much and it will be nothing to do with us, we told you all to cycle or walk to work.

Boris needs to do the right thing tomorrow for the nation and keep It closed.

Yes, I will. The murderer who let the virus rip through the country is the same one who issued the dog whistle messages over an easing of the lockdown.

Anyway, you two keep laughing and making jokes over the continuing death rate, still up in the hundreds, and offering your apology for the perpetrators of the massacre.

I offer no apologies for the Chinese state.......

There is zero way anything is opening tomorrow apart from maybe garden centres and small shops.

**prays for Boris to see sense and open le barbers**

Interesting article in the Belfast Telegraph - the people of Derry and Strabane ignored Johnson and Hancock and the results were ...

Coronavirus: Early move to lockdown cited for low rate in Derry and Strabane
Community: Dr Tom Black
By Donna Deeney
May 08 2020 12:00 AM
The disproportionately low numbers of people who have contracted coronavirus or died from it in the Derry and Strabane council area has been attributed to an early lockdown by a leading doctor.
According to the latest official figures, Derry and Strabane has the second lowest number of deaths (20) and cases (155) despite having the fourth highest population (150,680).
Only in Fermanagh and Omagh, with a population of almost 117,000, have there been fewer deaths (10) or cases (74).
In Newry and Mourne, with a population of 99,480 - the smallest in Northern Ireland - there have been 29 deaths and 237 cases.
While the number of cases in the Causeway Coast and Glens district, where the population is over 144,000, was initially below that of Derry and Strabane, in recent weeks its figures climbed to 29 deaths and 169 cases.

Meanwhile, in Antrim and Newtownabbey, a council area with a population fairly similar to that of Derry and Strabane, the number of people who died from coronavirus is 38 while 335 people test positive.
Similarly in Lisburn and Castlereagh, with a population of 144,381, the number of deaths is 37 while 380 have been diagnosed with the virus.
The chair of the British Medical Association in NI, Derry doctor Dr Tom Black, said: "We probably shut down two weeks earlier than England and that was a huge factor.
"In Derry there was also an incredible community buy-in and it became very clear that nobody was actually paying attention to Boris Johnston, they were paying attention to their neighbours in Donegal.
"There was a feeling in Derry that we have to shut down early to save the old folk in our community and there was a lot of pressure from the community in Derry towards businesses who were still open which resulted in everyone closing down and doing the social distancing, and that worked."
