Thats what i don't get why open garden centres isn't it the older generation that mainly use them thought the idea was to encourage older generation to stay in.

Think its because they are usually quite big mate so easier to social distance.

I imagine smaller shops will also open soon as less people tend to use them than your standard chain/brand stores

I think this pandemic happened at a poor time for the UK in terms of split national identity and polarised political identification mate.

Brexit split the nation, many feel that this government and nation dont represent them and they dont want to identify with them and thus dienfranchises the collective community and leads to the cult of the individual

Then there are those who may have favored a Brexit approach and who will back the nation/government against all cost and logic of the back of it - all to back the British dream - "The Make America Great Again" psychology.

Its all been divisive and as a society the UK has probably never had so little unity, social cohesion and been so polarised.

Not a great starting point for surpassing a pandemic when national spirit, social cohesion and unity and the currency needed.
Agreed. The country was in a terrible place to begin with politically. Ideologically the instinct has been to go against what the international community was saying. The previous decade of austerity meant that when that political class got cold feet over their initial strategy the infrastructure and human expertise to deal with this first wave and use the lockdown to get on top of it has been sadly missing.

The Murderer-in-chief tomorrow will 'try' to 'row back' all this and look like he's being cautious and statesmanlike, but he and the rest of his class want the dog whistle to 'get out there' to replace the 'stay at home' message. They want to end furlough and starve out those who's instinct is not to risk it. They care more about debt, and they're prepared to accept hundreds of thousands dead to avoid it.

Make no mistake, this is a horrific regime we're living under. The whole world is watching this laboratory at work.

Minister after Minister stands in front of the cameras and lies to the great British public daily, the latest was Grant Shapps. He claimed, 'we did in fact close off quarantine from Wuhan in January, Iran, Northern Italy and South Korea in February.. In fact, he's telling porkies.

"Fewer than 300 of the 18 million who arrived in the UK from coronavirus hotspots in the three months before lockdown began were put into quarantine, new figures show.
That is according to data provided to Labour MP Stephen Doughty by the Home Office.

Between 1 January and 23 March only people on three evacuation flights from Wuhan in China, the source of the outbreak, and one from Japan carrying cruise ship passengers, were put in isolation when they touched down in Britain - a number Mr Doughty said “beggars belief”.

Meanwhile the total passenger figures for the same period show that in those three months just under 18.1 million people entered the country by rail, road, sea or sky.

The data was released amid questions over the Government's decision not to quarantine more passengers as the virus began to spread across the world".

I wouldn't say that per se. I would say that the majority of Londoners only go into central London for work. Most of those you see there are tourists, of whom there aren't really any at the moment. If I went to my local park I dare say it would be very busy. We had a walk around Hyde Park, for instance, and it was busy, albeit with people generally running or cycling solo or in pairs. Also had a couple of police cars circling it at all times, which perhaps helped. My local park has none of that and you do sadly see football matches, sunbathing and all that.
Exactly. It’s been business as usual round here (Islington). House parties, kids playing in parks etc. No one lives round Leicester Square etc but it’s plenty busy round the more residential boroughs.

Mate, I know it's easy for me to say because it isn't my missus, but they go to unbelievable lengths to make sure maternity units are free of the virus, and she will be safer there than practically anywhere else. And every rule has exceptions and this is one of them. If your missus is having a C section it will take at least 7 days to recover from that, never mind having a new born baby in tow. Take whatever help you can get. Sounds like you've all been very sensible with self isolating so I'm sure it'll be safe for the in law to come over and stay with you. You'll need her.

Yeah, my gf has been there a few times and how safe they are has made her feel much better. It's very seperate

Full recovery is about 6 weeks, with at least a 48hr stay in hospital of breast feeding. I think she will come over but I'll let them decide. Guess will know more once it's all done.
