During crucial weeks in March, New York’s political leaders waited to take aggressive action, even after identifying hundreds of cases, giving the virus a head start. And by mid-March, when President Trump restricted travel from Europe, the restrictions were essentially pointless, the data suggest, as the disease was already spreading widely within the country.

Acting earlier would most likely have blunted the virus’s march across the country, researchers say.
“It means that we missed the boat early on, and the vast majority in this country is coming from domestic spread,” said Kristian Andersen, a professor in the department of immunology and microbiology at Scripps Research. “I keep hearing that it’s somebody else’s fault. That’s not true. It’s not somebody else’s fault, it’s our own fault.”

Not to speak for him i think the point he was trying to make was joey that you seem to agree that this government are making a balls of things therefore you must have concerns that they can handle anything especially things so important made doubly so given the huge crisis we find ourselves in . That’s not rehashing the Brexit debate just commenting on the professionalism of those in power .

conversations are often fluid and can evolve to topics that might not strictly adhere to what you consider relevant otherwise it’d only be to stray into inbound Uk flights And jokes about @Bruce Wayne and @COYBL25
Oh and no one ever strays .....but he has a fixation with the EU .....and always draws me into it - .....

America is a different kettle of fish than most countries over there money rules more than anywhere else in the world and people don't like to be told what to do and it's seen as an attack on freedom. It would take a very brave president to shut everything down and tell people that they won't have as much money and they have to stay at home.

I sincerely hope it is. The snippets coming from the government aren't helping because people have become disenchanted with the numbers and the restrictions.

In a way, that's natural; however, the severity of the situation, which is still significant, needs to be made clear as day and the authorities given more freedom to act.
It's the media Phil, the Govt haven't said anything yet. Raab had to repeat himself 4 times in the presser today that the lockdown is still in place and Johnson will only be giving a pathway out of lockdown on Sunday. People weren't listening, or rather ignored it because it wasn't what they wanted to hear

While I agree that the press are the main people stirring the pot, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest the government could have done more to make it clear.

There is a growing fatigue with regards to the social-distancing measures, and only the government can really ensure this doesn't go any further through action.

If the only restrictions being lifted on sunday are that we can go out more than once a day and also visit family I'll be dissapointed.

I walk the dog twice a day anyway & I actively avoid visiting family at the best of times never mind when in lockdown.

Any numbers for underground barbers preferably of the Turkish variety?

Absolutely gagging for a trim I'll do anything
@Paris is quite good with a scissors I am told
The bit in bold might come back to haunt you though lol
