Or perhaps if recognising that there is some genetic or even socio-cultural factors, then those at more risk can and should be removed from the front line and given additional support.....
And do you think it'll be used for that in the teeth of a crisis when it's all hands on deck?

And they all scurry for the bunker, rats...

Piers Morgan-

The UK Govt has banned any ministers from appearing on @gmb after a series of them made complete fools of themselves in the face of basic & important questions.
This is a pathetic & cowardly response to THEIR shameful incompetence.

Next Chris Whitty and his geeky scientist friends will be found in remote fields with their wrists slashed.

Boris and his ministerial chums will sail off into a retirement of privilege and luxury.

And if the CCP had told the truth from day one, the whole world would be at least a month further on and thousands would still be alive across the globe.

Let’s not lose sight of the forest for the trees.
I’d like to think that but in reality I don’t think, at least here in the US, there would have been much difference. Even South Korea’s outbreak or the awful pictures from Italy didn’t change how many reacted as it “wasn‘t here”.

Socio-economic disadvantage explains some, but not all, of the differences.

...and cultural differences.

Maybe, for example, Asian women are susceptible to more infection by not being able to be self isolated from a family member if they have it? I dont know, but that seems possible.

Also, why not look into the white population for differences? It;s well known that some individuals form a Celtic background have a condition from iron deficiency for example. Does that not suggest that within the white population some may have a possible susceptibility to Covid19 than others?

Like I said, that is undoubtedly the reality of the situation, but even had Labour won the last election, they aren't going to have a different civil service to play with. They won't be using experts from different universities to model and understand this thing. I don't recall the unions (as an example) campaigning for workplaces to be shut down en masse early in February. They campaigned to ensure people were furloughed or got sick pay or that the self-employed were covered, yes, but not that huge employers should shut to prevent infections. They've pretty much stopped entire train networks in the past due to pay and conditions, yet did no such thing to prevent the spread of the virus.

It's easy to look back and say things would have been different, but I'm just not sure a different government would have made 'that' much difference.

TBF unions aren’t campaigning for whole workplaces to be shut down now, more that they have to be safe and that the workforce shouldn’t bear the brunt of any changes (which was behind most train strikes, certainly of my lifetime).

I agree about Labour having to deal with the same CS, but I’d hope they would have provided better leadership from the top than this shower have.

It doesn't automatically follow that if somebody fouls up one thing that they will do the same to everything

It gives you cause to question their ability but to assume they will get it wrong, merely because they have got other things wrong, is wrong IMO

Fair enough but if a builder made a complete and utter mess of your extension, the worst In Europe Even then I’m not sure you’d ask him to refit the kitchen . Well if you did and the same thing happens then it’s definitely on you and wouldn’t be a huge surprise surely ?

Perhaps you should have a look at previous deaths within socialist regimes. People die under whatever political system is in place, it’s just the numbers and the reason that changes......
Superb whatabouttery, but again political ideology, no?

The point would be, that in the face of a natural (im sure you'll probably debate 'natural' as you think it's Chinese made) incident, one which is not created by ideology, you have a choice about what you do to manage the incident. Do you prioritise life or economy, if it's the later then what's an acceptable loss of life?

I`ve never had a skinhead in my life, but a couple of weeks ago me and my eldest lad got a set of clippers and went down to the wood.

He looks quite good and I look ridiculous, as I have such a high fod, but it`s better than having a walnut whip on top of my head lol
I've gone for the walnut whip look mate. But it's beginning to annoy me.

If there's no mention of barbers in Sunday's message I'll probably follow your suit. The missus is already looking at clipper deals on the web.

What number setting did you use?

It's not about getting things wrong, it's about admitting that failure, learning from it and putting it right.

That's fair comment. But you're assuming you have the luxury of choice. Using your analogy the Tories are the only builder on the market at the moment and the kitchen has to be refitted.
