The idea is to not treat this as a mild flu or respiratory problem, the idea is to make it clear that you should avoid contracting this as the mortality rate among the elderly is really high.
This is like nothing we've seen in our lifetime.

It's not. Mainly due to the lack of vaccine , I'm sure the flu would be just as devastating without a cure for it so to speak.

Technically though, aren't we meant to avoid contracting any illness if we can help it?

It is horrible how it's affecting the older generation though. No matter the circumstances , it's heartbreaking to lose someone.

It is, but we appear to be one of the few countries who are aiming for everyone to get it as soon as possible. That the government is closely linked to eugenicists as well should cause everyone to worry.

that’s not true at all. The guidance is clear, and the next steps will be reduction in social contact

Why let something linger? Yes, I get that we haven't been able to find a cure just yet and they probably want time for that, but just saying lets deal with it and see what happens when everyone else is at least trying to contain it, is absolutely mental

How does any of what he / they proposed today do that, though? Even the "stay at home for a week" advice isn't likely to be followed when people (a) need the money and (b) see people like Raab not doing it.
