No. I believe everyone should be disciplined and try and see this virus off...still, if a free born Englishman really really needs their pastie or latte then they must get it.

Bon appetite.
So you've picked two examples which aren't really a fair portrayal of what is open: I don't see any coffee shops open, but I have seen bakeries for bread etc.

I do also see butchers, fish mongers, cheese shops (it's food) and takeaways (less of a necessity I accept) which are all feeing the country and providing a service.

As long as they're complying for social-distancing regulations like your wonderful supermarkets, I see no wrong doing; in fact, I expect that they're safer.

No coffee shops open in the town near me. Just the essential shops and services.

...d'you mean the Local Authorities that have seen their funding cut to the bone?
Well it depends which local authority you look at. Liverpool, for example, have an excellent public transport system incorporating trains, buses, ferries. The fact that there are many well run transport systems shows that it can be done.

Where a route is profitable you might get a decent service. Where a route isn't...

I‘m not not sure anyone has have they ? Obviously wearing a mask does something. It stops you coughing or sneezing all over someone else and perhaps stops a virus coming the other way. But look at the trouble we’ve had in getting ppe to half a million medics. The U.K. has 67million people, all of whom would need one or two masks per day, so say 100 million every single day, and of course everyone else on the planet wants the same. I just think the government are taking a practical view of the situation and delaying in case a test to tell if you have had the disease comes along......or until they’ve built a massive stockpile of masks.....
You can make reusable (washable )face masks
