The number of cases goes up and up every day on reports of new cases. What it fails to recognise is the number of people that have recovered after a few days and no longer have the virus. The first couple of hundred cases were over a week ago and will be totally over it by now (or dead)

The majority have only minor symptoms and recover within 3-5 days but those people are never removed from the stats.
If we quoted stats for the flu in the same way then there would currently be 827million cases of the flu in the UK.

They also think that people remain infectious up to 3 weeks after infection, which is the reason they are not being removed from the stats.
further to this, the UK is still upgrading its testing capabilities as it is currently not able to test that many people per day, meaning it is likely there are a lot more cases which are not yet showing symptoms out there spreading the disease.
Agree it would be good to see the number who have recovered - S Korea data is much better at giving a rounded picture including number non-positive tests and those recovered.
However still important to include those recovering in the stats as they are the ones that are causing the strain on health services or who still have the potential to (several reports of two “waves” where people think they have recovered from the fever/flu symptoms for a day or so and then get respiratory illness)

They've basically cancelled all the spring classics up to the Tour of Flanders and they've canned the public rides for that too. Massive impact on the tourism industry in the countries biggest weeks. They've ruined telly as well!
