He'll survive.
People living in France and Spain etc. had effectively 30% docked off our pensions when the pound crashed in 2009.
Bit of belt tightening but we survived.
I cashed in all my investment portfolio 4 weeks agoI've just had lunch with a mate that retired before Christmas knowing he had a decent share portfolio that would see him through a comfortable retirement.
As of this morning, that portfolio was worth 36% less than when he retired just 3 months ago. He knows it'll recover in time when all this blows over but he is rightfully very worried.
Is it even accurate tho?
I've heard experts say that hand washing has a minimal impact on negating spread because it is an air-bourne virus, making large congregations of people in confined spaces a sure way to propagate its spread.
So someone is talking out of their arse.
And now seems a particularly good time to avoid getting ill for any reason if you can help it - both for your own health and to reduce strain on healthcare services.Experts diminishing hand washing....unlikely. I need a source.
First - as this is a novel virus, information will continue to change as we learn more.
Second - there is nothing harmful about washing your hands more even if it doesn't decrease the spread of this virus (it does though) since it stops the spread of lots of bacterial and viral diseases.
Third - There is a new study that was published yesterday suggesting the virus droplets can survive in the air longer than previous thought (although hasn't been official termed airborne). The same study also shows it may survive longer on surfaces (counter tops, door handles, cell phones, ie stuff you touch with your hands) than previously thought.
TL/DR - Wash your dang hands!
Plenty of money in the country. Always seems to be billions lay around to bail out banks, airlines, etc. Use some of that.
