I've mentioned a few times mate what my missus does, she's a director in local government for older people and she said she can't believe some of the stuff spouted on here that I've mentioned to her in regards to care homes, the elderly etc.

To be honest If your good wife were currently managing a service in a local authority that probably make me sit up and take notice. However, director in local government, structure law and budgets. People can head up these positions without ever having any of the clinical experience they are managing. Could not even name mine, never heard seen my directors they have little bearing on me and I'm in front line local authority, they will just get data to crunch...

The missus started of as a care worker mate, then was a social worker for many years before becoming a manager and went on to work for a few councils in that role before becoming a director. She still keeps her social worker subs paid up. She actually left a local council because they wanted her to implement stuff that went against everything she believed in and she's never lost that passion for what she does.

Like I said if she was currently manager of service, however, director is a director whatever way you cut it.

She still has to direct managers in her role as director of older peoples services mate. I hear her every morning on teams in her group meeting with her managers and she's talking with them throughout the day sorting stuff out, so it's not as if she doesn't know what's going on. Most nights she's in meetings on the laptop from 8 in the morning till 6 in the evening.
