Yeah the weekend deaths aren't included in the total mate till today or tomorrow.

There’s a trade off in terms of statistical quality between timeliness and accuracy. There will always be issues in terms of reporting lags when being asked to produce daily figures of any sort.

Currently the death curve is relatively similar to Italy:





Even with this new number of 800 or so taking into account Wales/Scotland/NI, our trend is downwards. Unfortunately there is no quick fix, looking at the Italy track it will probably be another week or so before the daily number falls below 500 consistently.

A senior Doctor in NI said on the news yesterday he expects it will be another ten days or so before the numbers of deaths will start to fall.

The blame lies with all those from top to bottom mate and the buck stops with Boris because he is top of that tree.

That's the way the cookie crumbles as they say. He actually acknowledged that in one of his earlier daily CV press conferences. Whether he actually meant it is open for debate

The buck should stop with the person doing the job. If a surgeon makes a mistake and a patient dies, is that the fault of the Health Secretary or the surgeon. I am a firm believer in nailing the person who actually fails....

Doesn't work that way Pete. There'll always be a reason why the buck can be passed up to the next level until you reach the top. With something of this magnitude there's only one person at the top.

That doesn't mean that those within the chain aren't free from blame and when the dust settles I believe investigations will show many to be at fault from the scientists, government, certain civil service departments and even NHS senior management and some departments not involved in front line operations.

Johnson has to take overall responsibility though. It goes with the job
