We are massively undercounting. A specialist on TV earlier estimated that millions if not tens of millions of people worldwide are already infected but aren't showing any symptoms. That's the worrying part, huge jumps means the prior numbers were unreliable. Which suggests we're still undercounting, at least until the growth rate stabilizes.
Still not buying it as a valid strategy like.
Of course, but Italy (which has a population density and geographical spread much closer to ours) is 0.2% infected and continuing to rise quickly.
I accept that the infected aren't around every corner, but in the UK the cases are on the increase. Unless these start to trend downwards soon, as they did in China, the numbers can get worse very quickly.
Once we are out of the woods it's a good opportunity to take stock and assess how small-scale it might eventually have been, but while the cases are on the rise here it seems foolish to praise the high numbers of uninfected people.
Doubt I'll see this where I live, it'll die out on it's way up the cold harsh north, nothing survives here.

On the upside, if that's true, it does mean the death rate is markedly lower than we think it is.
Oh I couldn't agree more - it's actually quite a bizarre situation when you look at it objectively. And yet rather than thinking "lots of people may have this and have no side effects at all, that's good", people have been whipped into a frenzy so will think "holy crap, you may have it and don't know, get away, get away you foul bringer of death..."

An email has just gone round the community health team in our borough saying they have no hand sanitizer left. So health staff are going short, just so Janet down the street can have 24 tubs of the stuff, just in case. Get-a-[Poor language removed]-grip-people.
