Prepared like what. How are Germany measuring and recording deaths, when did they start. Germany also doesn’t have centralised health nor testing facilities, they use lots of private companies for the testing. Is this the ‘gold standard’ you aspire to ?.....
The point is they are getting the tests done which is the only way we are going to get through this

You see thats where we disagree, you want accurate reporting, I want fear, I want people to be scared to leave their house.
I get that. I really do and on the face of it yes that kinda works.

But then that's crossing a dangerous line from free will to conformity via fear.

For the current times it is fine given the proof we have seen sadly. But it's still a dangerous line to cross in a western society.

What do the tests tell you ? 1) if you are sick it will confirm you have the virus. 2) if you are not sick it will confirm that you do or do not have the virus. (useful for NHS staff) . 3) if we had tested 65 Million people it would tell us what % of the population had it. 4) ???......

Yeah but it ain't going to last forever.Stay home,eat and drink what you want.Get up when you want,watch what you want.It ain't that hard to try and save your life and the lives of others is it.

Tests that tell us who has had the virus will tell who is immune and can go back to work.
Tests that tell us who has got the virus means these people can self isolate keeping them away from others.
Surely it's the only way forward ?

Look at Germany.

That's the European gold standard.

Why couldn't we have prepared like that?

There is NO EXCUSES, so stop handing these butchers one.

What, exactly did they do?

So from these figures;

I can see how you would draw that conclusion BUT HOW did Germany keep it's current death rate as it is, preparedness? That is my point.

I dont have any ideas, I dont have the answers but I'm not on here berating a leader or leaders around the world with the vitriol that you seem to thrive on!

I wish I did have the answers, I'm sure many of us do, but this is a long haul.

I'm curious as to how Germany has kept its rate so low but we all know German reliability is a "thing"

Will Germany return to some sort of normality sooner than anyone else? I doubt it, globally it's a huge issue, Spain has jumped the gun IMO Today, big mistake that could set the whole of Europe back, look at the spike in China today, allegedly "imported" cases!

The hurdles to come are many but I do I believe that singling anyone out is unjustified at THIS point in time, if anyone has case to answer its China but their time will come, the WORLD will hold China to account of that I'm sure!

@MarcelsGoat

Ok a better way of putting it.

  • 10000 die from Corona virus.
  • 10000 die after testing positive for the coronavirus
Can you see the difference in the wording there? One is cause of death, the other isn't. Yet it's presented in a way where the latter means the former. If that makes sense?

So if the stories were focused on the infection rates , which is the key part in all of this , then the latter would be applicable in the narrative. Yet the articles focus on the number of deaths instead , so the latter is then not accurate.

Simple wording difference but two completely different meanings.

I get what you're saying, and there's a certain amount of truth in it.

But, on average there are between 350 and 400 avoidable deaths a day in England and Wales ( a shocking statistic in itself ), and the number of people infected with COVID-19 dying per day in hospital is currently roughly twice that, so, while it's true that not everyone died as a direct result of being infected, the numbers are definitely suggesting there's an awful lot of excess deaths in there.
