I tell you what mate; you position me as a flat earther, but it's not my world view that's been found wanting in this crisis, it's yours.

I doubt very much you can now mount a case for carrying on with the way society was ordered pre-crisis; I, on the other hand (and others), can very much argue that our critique of that grotesque mess has been vindicated.

Maybe you should give some thought to the wording of your own sandwich board?

France confirmed lockdown continues to 11th May ;-( Then creches, schools etc back and maybe work in certain areas ;-( Risk categories have to stay in lockdown ongoing ;-( Masks will be needed to wear etc outside but not enough at moment ! Chance of group meetings etc for sports etc July !

just watching discussion of that on BFM, difficult to take in the implications but that might be more to do with Aurelie Casse having a low-cut top on

What, exactly did they do?

So from these figures;

I can see how you would draw that conclusion BUT HOW did Germany keep it's current death rate as it is, preparedness? That is my point.

I dont have any ideas, I dont have the answers but I'm not on here berating a leader or leaders around the world with the vitriol that you seem to thrive on!

I wish I did have the answers, I'm sure many of us do, but this is a long haul.

I'm curious as to how Germany has kept its rate so low but we all know German reliability is a "thing"

Will Germany return to some sort of normality sooner than anyone else? I doubt it, globally it's a huge issue, Spain has jumped the gun IMO Today, big mistake that could set the whole of Europe back, look at the spike in China today, allegedly "imported" cases!

The hurdles to come are many but I do I believe that singling anyone out is unjustified at THIS point in time, if anyone has case to answer its China but their time will come, the WORLD will hold China to account of that I'm sure!

Stand by for incoming any time soon lol

Look at Germany.

That's the European gold standard.

Why couldn't we have prepared like that?

There is NO EXCUSES, so stop handing these butchers one.

Because we're not quite as right wing as the German government, and don't have a widespread private insurance element in our health service.

Surprised to find you're a fan of the market when it comes to health.

Crying here lol Tried to rep you but not allowed WTF.

I hope it goes without saying that I fully get just how serious this issue is btw. An old colleague of my wife's from Mary's was one of those named by the Beeb earlier, so the fear is all too present. Just try and make this place a bit of relief from all that, because there's not a blind thing any of us can do to change things, other than looking out for ourselves, and each other.

Tests that tell us who has had the virus will tell who is immune and can go back to work.
Tests that tell us who has got the virus means these people can self isolate keeping them away from others.
Surely it's the only way forward ?

The first one is fine for the NHS, hence my number 2), We are self isolating anyway. If we create two levels of people, those with and those without the virus, there will be social problems. Ultimately we will all have it anyway, via immunity or vaccine. Testing 65,000,000 isn’t going to happen before the vaccine, even at 100,000 a day it would still take 2 years....I’m not sure it’s the way forward tbh....

An antibody test which was accurate enough to detect people who only had mild symptoms, or had been asymptomatic could be very useful in determining what to do for the rest of this year.

Current thinking is that we'll probably come out of the current phase with less than 10% of the population having been infected. If you randomly sampled the population across the country, you'd need a lot less than a million antibody tests to come up with a much better idea of the situation.

If that confirmed current best estimates, then nothing changes, but if it came back with an answer of, say, 20%, then your whole way of moving forward changes. Obviously if it came back with an answer of 1%, then that'd be a bit s h one t

Is right mate we can't do a thing but stay in.The missus has turned in to her off the Good Life.Planting lentils and all this other shizz,it will all be forgotten about 2 or 3 months down the line.It keeps her happy though.

Don’t know if anyone saw Channel 4 news earlier, I find their reporting of this the most honest and impartial in the UK.

Raised serious doubts about the validity of the UK governments reporting of RIP figures in particular and raised the issue of an Epidemic in nursing and care homes. These settings have accounted for up to 50% of the RIPs figures in other countries. Asking the very valid question of why the UK are not reporting these and other countries are. Interesting peice, I’m sure it will be up on their website later.
