As above, the response will come, however it's a judgement call on timing which should be informed by the data and the views of the relevant experts.

The view of those experts is, contrary to what our intuition would tell us, imposing the social distancing measures too early would be counter productive.
"Those experts", as always, are under political pressure to bend to ideology.

We can all see the trend elsewhere and how this situation is taken in hand, and yet this government dont take this time to repeat measures taken elsewhere. They are placing thousands at risk.

Yea there are people who wont be fine, but is that not the case with every dose that goes around? A bad dose of diarrhea could wipe out some people. I don't think it's a callous disregard it's a fact of life that the older you get the more susceptible to things like this you become. If we want a health care system that helps more and more people live into their 80's 90's and higher then we have to come to terms with the fact that we have created a population where a significant precipitant of people are weakened due to age and any virus that effects lungs will inevitability kill many of these people.

Indeed.

The only certainty in life is death. We all have a pre-determined expiry date that is ultimately out of our control.

Ok. Meet in the middle...Let's not hang him, let's just lob a hardback at his head.

Can we all agree on that as a suitable way forward?
Let the people judge what to do with Banks and co. after this is over.

At the very least I'd hand down life sentences.

Can we do morning roll call please. Is everyone still here?
To keep it simple the roll call should be for those
A. Over 60
B. Those with underlying medical conditions

@Joey66 just say here once

In all seriousness thousands will die from this
Latest conspiracy theory I’ve heard is that the dying off of hundreds of thousands of old and ill people will be welcomed ( obviously not publicly ) by European governments as it allievates the strain on health services and helps diffuse the pension time bomb slightly
Another story I heard is that it won’t be undertakers making money but JCB drivers as we will have to dig mass graves and there will be no autopsies once this virus takes a real hold

I wonder if in 600 years time, those around then will be hitting the 'CV19 Pits' as they've been hitting the 'Black Death Pits' in London in contemporary times.

It's a big Tory plot because they know Brexit will be a turkey so don't want to face the wrath of old the old farts that voted for it :coffee:

A 24-year-old woman who'd met Hanoi's first Covid-19 infection in London is infected with the novel coronavirus, the Health Ministry confirmed Tuesday.

The woman, who lives in London, flew to Saigon in a private jet Monday and has been placed under treatment at HCMC Hospital of Tropical Diseases.
The unnamed woman, Vietnam’s 32nd Covid-19 infection, had met Nguyen Hong Nhung in London on February 27. Nhung is the 26-year-old Hanoian who became the capital city’s first Covid-19 patient last Friday.
On March 2, the unnamed woman developed a cough, but didn’t have a fever. She was admitted to a hospital in London for treatment. On March 7, she started coughing a lot, but still had no fever. After hearing about Nhung being infected with the novel coronavirus, she returned to the hospital and informed doctors about her contact history. The London hospital required her to be isolated at home but no Covid-19 test was done.
