Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Right, and because of the ridiculous overreaction to the virus I can't get checked out by a doctor for another 10 days. Same with the cough which I'm pretty sure is because of a lung infection.

The only thing I can do is just hope against hope that the trots and the cough are not due to far more serious issues. Which, had they been seen to early enough could have prevented any serious damage to the body.

Joking aside, can you do a telehealth consultation with a doctor?

You've not understood my post.

The argument isn't that social distancing is counter productive, it's that social distancing measures introduced too soon are less effective and therefore counter productive.

As above, we intuitively feel that we should act as soon as possible. The experts tell us differently. They do this having studied hundreds of outbreaks, assessed countless responses. Modelled all of this in simulations. etc etc.

You may know better than them, I don't pretend to.

If we could get an actual bit of targeted news come through about the seriousness of this and how it is going to push the health services to the limit and what the government will do to feed us/provide utilities while people are locked down then the message will get through. Of course a snappy catchphrase like 'Coronavirus means Coronavirus' always helps the people believe too.

Me and missus due to fly to Cyprus at end of month to join a cruise ship for a week.
Quite simply, due to arbitrary decisions being made by different organisations, can't take the risk so unless anything drastic happens we won't be going. Will lose cost of holiday but maybe worth a price worth paying to be able to make our own decisions. Tour operator to carry out screening at airport before you get on aircraft, but at present only a questionnaire.
