Problem is the areas where the virus is likely to be prevalent are the major cities where most of the employment is and where the economy is heavily dependant on

Absolutley Pal.

Its certainly true of London and Dublin. Education (those traveling to University), employment and sport i think are the big three mate, going to be massively difficult to manage.

I was reading some stuff on Cheltnham last night and how that really was a virus bomb for both the UK and Ireland. Certainly people were exposed to the virus, in a very condensed area constantly over a week. They then dispersed into urban and rural areas spreading the virus into every corner of the islands. Three weeks on look were we are. I really think it was a monumental mistake and had a huge impact across these islands.

On reflection it shows how hard it is going to be, to get sport back to any normality.

Imagine away PL games, teams from London heading all over the country, transport, pubs, grounds before and after. While here at home imagine Dublin heading away to say Pairc Ui Chaoimh or even crossing the border to say Healy Park or somewhere in the summer, an absolute cocktail for spreading the virus. Sport really is going to be in a tough place.

Agree
Which is why I think pubs ,restaurants and sporting events as well as concerts are way down the list of things that will get back to normal
I done the weekly shop yesterday
1hr waiting outside Dunnes in a socially distanced queue before I got in
This might be the norm for a long time
PS
I got a good deal on 2 boxes of Peroni so not all bad

Its uusally on the door in a public building no it was all obvoios question but not yet imo .....he has permission to speak directly to the Chief Medical officer from Boris ....
He should have the sense to know we are not at that stage yet , and circumstances in the future will determine that plan, not now......
FFS and I was doing so well up until now
@COYBL25 you are up

It will be sword and dance i think mate, slight opening up then lock down with further out breaks, i think governments will inch along two angles 1. Try and develop herd immunity but manage outbreaks, 2) Lock down when needed and inch toward a vaccine. I think thats the year we have ahead.

I think the PL will be back there is to much money in it not to play it behind closed doors, so i see that will be back come June, once the players can be kept safe. Its the GAA i worry about, its a non for profit, with a turnover of just south of 75 mill - largely raised through gate. Its going to be tough to see them running of a championship, with people in the grounds therefore the GAA could be in big trouble in the next year, hopefully not, but i just cant see any quick or easy solution. That will impact from county all the way down to club and grassroots. Its a worrying time.

Have to say i think the super markets are doing a great job, the ques while you wouldn't pick tostand in one, are managed well and generally people are sound. I think people might be a bit edgy if they had to go back to work and were pressed for time though. Never had so much food in the gaff, always just picked stuff up every couple of days, but now we're all about the weekly "big shop". Even be sent down with the "list", if a cop stops, he'd never convict me as i have "the list" for evidence. Love Peroni, one of the nicest beers out there, but on my ear after 5 bottles. Went down the other day and got two cases of Corona (I know, girl in the shop was laughing at me) got home and forgot the limes FFS!!

Expect our case numbers to shoot up today, tomorrow and next week. Heard last night we have a back log of 17k test results coming back from Germany and 1k are positive. We also took a big delivery of the chemical we needed for testing yesterday, so we are going to be testing more in the next few weeks.

I go one better
I have the list, the empty shopping bags on the front seat and I put the shopping on the back seat as evidence on my way home lol

In this Very thread he’s been criticised for doing this and asking that question , that’s where we are .
Regardless of what’s happening the govt whoever they are need to be held accountable for their actions. I’d say the same if it was a labour govt. Its what prevents a totalitarian situation emerging. Someone has to ask questions about their handling of the situation or they can do what they want.

True, but the GAA wouldn't have a huge wage bill.

The turn around in testing is a joke
