Nothing new (and not a fan of the dramatic intro) but there does need to be massive sanctions on China after this. Worth a watch.

It might be the one good thing Trump does.

The west's reliance on the place - and the power it gives to that awful government - does need to be stopped. WHO have loads to answer for as well. They're in China's pockets.

Doesn't excuse the crap response from western governments, mind.

I know but this constant moaning and trying to put our governments down as though they said “hey there’s a big pandemic coming, let’s just ignore it for 8 or 9 weeks then put a plan in place to murder thousands of our own people” just doesn’t ring true somehow....now don’t get me wrong, I think quite a few people were not on the ball with this at Cabinet level, Politicians and CS, at the PHE, NHS and Treasury. But notwithstanding individual errors, and there have been, to say that governments were siting on their hands truly is out of place.....

I think it’s undeniable they thought herd immunity was the way to go , I’m not wholly convinced that some of them still aren’t in that camp . I’m not really into them calling them murders on the back of it but changing your mind and lying about it hardly makes them seem genuine . I also think it’s possible they prepared for this on the basis they were leaning towards herd immunity which to then switch horses after a day or so means they're handled it Very badly whatever side your on .

I agree. Totally, both in terms of switching horses and trying to spin it as though they didn’t, just be honest. But this dishonest ‘sitting on hands claim’ and ‘murderous PM’ has no real place in sensible discussion.....

I have not claimed anywhere that I knew what they were doing during that period.....
Only you have, as you were definitive that they weren’t ‘sat on their hands for 2 months’ so for to be able to assert that, then you must have knowledge of what they were doing during that period, no?

Or was it just you’re usual ‘nothing to see here, Boris is sound, don’t dare poke a stick at the Tories’ parroting the Tory tabloids level of meaningless guff?

That’s rhetorical btw.

Sorry mate i don't think you do show much empathy for them .I may be wrong but you seem to come across as im all right Jack you'll get your £2500 a month furloughed money as long as it lasts and more importantly have a job to go back to.I my self should be ok but worried like hell for my kids who have rent and mortgages and there own kids to provide for and don't know if they'll have jobs to back to .

Its always worse worrying for the kids......

It happens, life is not perfect unfortunately....soldiers were sent to Iraq and Afghanistan by a Labour government in soft sided vehicles which were being blown up with ied’s....it happens......haven’t heard anyone calling out these murderous policies...

you were on the thread where the antics of the British Government of the time and Iraq was called out earlier today, pete

However, because of the initial approach they were definitely far more relaxed than they should've been about the implications and as such slow to act. The preparedness at local level is in spite of government activity, not because of it.

I was definitive about the 2 month claim because the dates didn’t line up, as I posted. So you naturally assume that I have claimed some form of inside knowledge, which I have never claimed. So it was my usual logical assessment as opposed to your usual it must be the fault of the Tories.......

Nothing at all to do with the pandemic and yes they have, it routinely happens. This adds nothing to the sensible debate you keep encouraging.

But you work in health commissioning with accountability for emergency planning, so exactly what the hell were you doing. Now I’m pretty sure that quite a few people in positions of power, Politicians, CS etc, did not immediately see the implications or disaster on the horizon, but we are where we are, and having a go at them, or indeed yourself, is perhaps not the best use of time at this particular moment.....there will be time later....
