I dont think we will be, quite, but I am convinced we wont have just one lock down. Let the NHS do their job, loosen the ties, give the NHS a break, then it will start up again.

The idea being that the NHS will be better prepared and resourced, the population will be less stupid with panic buying and that, and the end game of some sort of mass immunisation is nearer.

Then we cancel Christmas to pay for it anyrate.

Without mass testing though this is a horrific idea - the only other way they'd be able to determine when to lockdown would be hospital admissions or death rates spiking, either of which would mean lag of 7-14 days (and hundreds of deaths).

Never said it was a good idea. Just think that I reckon what will happen.

Both my missus and daughter have turned our dining room into an office. They're using our leccy, heating and wifi subscription for work purposes.

Both of their bosses are going to get a hefty bill from me, including rent. I'm sure there'll be a way their companies can claw the costs back from government if they sob enough.
What have they saved on transport costs.lunches ,parking etc ?

"Boz, we've only got a few spare beds left, fancy another lock-in for a week till some of these snuff it?"

This is my understanding too. They want to operate a switch on/switch off strategy for social distancing and lockdown in order to slow and control the spread through the population. Use it like a tap to control the number of cases. It’s herd immunity by any other name.

I think they’re resigned to the fact that we can’t stop the virus, a vaccine is too far away, so by keeping NHS capacity as good as possible, you’ll keep mortality rates as low as possible, by avoiding spikes.
