Lets get rid of the oldies thread...according to current "thinking" we are expendable... Soylent Green anyone ?
Still no questions about this at the daily press conferences.
This bit isn't likely - for counting inside hospitals you'd need that data, but not for returns to central Government. All they'd appear to need for these daily stats is the number of deaths over the relevant period, how many of them had underlying conditions and the ages, which the hospitals could send in easily.
None of that would need consent (and isn't for any other circumstance) but if you wanted to be far more concerned with confidentiality than they are for anything else, you could remove the ages from the published data and it would be completely anonymous.
Or, to translate, the Tories have no clue what they're doing and use the word "science" as a shield to hide behind, even when it makes zero sense.
I know this is going to sound cold and horrible, but somebody is going to have to weigh the importance of economy against the importance of trying to stop this disease spreading and killing people,
It's predicted now that Ireland will enter a depression with hundreds of thousands of job losses that may last decades, which in turn will lead to a massive increase in suicide as people find themselves in horrific financial situations. I would think the death toll from this virus will be miniscule in comparison to the amount of death from suicide and other financial issues such as not being able to afford health care.

Seeing as they're not in Government, it's an irrelevant question.Would Labour know what they’re doing? Lib Dem’s?
Seeing as they're not in Government, it's an irrelevant question.
So it's irrelevant to place criticism at the door of the government in a time when they are coordinating the response to a national crisis. So is slamming the people in charge when we have no evidence others would have done anything different. Politics has no place here anymore.

OK mate.
But the Government are Tories, so whilst I take your point it's a bit unspecific, it's understandable why people would use the term.Criticise personnel and decisions but I find the “typical Tory” blah blah comments to just be completely pointless.
