Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I've read that mate. Like I said, there could be a huge spike and they'll be proved massively wrong.

So far though, the numbers look good for them. They're at the same infection rate I believe relative to the population as the UK but a much lower death rate.

Compare their numbers with ours for new cases: 407 today/yesterday in Sweden compared to 3,009 here.

It's apples and oranges to an extent because of the state of their healthcare (they spend more than the UK, Italy or Spain on it) and relative population.

They do have more in a serious condition than us but far less active cases. They also had a first reported case nearly a month before us.

Just read a 13 year old boy has died in London with the virus , although not confirmed yet.

Very sad story, can't imagine what the family are going through.

What strikes me as odd is the story itself. It repeats the phrase no underlying health issues over and over again like it's trying to make it stand out. Thats fine if that's the information but apparently everyone who has made a statement has said the exact same thing like it's been instructed to say that. Including the family , the go fund me page , some friend of his sister.

I know I'm being sceptical about the story but it doesn't read like a real story. It reads like an official response that's been scripted , from my perspective at least.

I mean the friend of the sister assumes they haven't released the body because of age and no underlying health issues. When do they ever release the body without an autopsy of some sorts.

Just very odd the whole story, very sad but doesn't sit right with me personally. Especially as reading the 19 year old death was genuine and horrible to read.

Can't link the full story as one outlet is not allowed and the other I wouldn't click on anyway.

That and the ones who are running the story right now aren't news outlets but they are tabloid rubbish

It might just be something daft - like the phrase having to be put in an article loads so it gets published, and doesn’t become another victim in the war being fought in most national newspapers newsrooms right now between the opposing camps of “this is a huge public health crisis” and “if the country doesn’t get back to work I’ll never be able to pay school fees and anyway there are too many old people”.

Lets hope it works out for them.

How come there has only been 135 people recovered from coronavirus from 22/03/2020 to today?

Any story is published mate. Half the death stories under 50 are currently being taken from facebook statuses right now. Anything and everything is being published , for reasons probably not for this thread.

I was reading earlier about the 19 year old who died last week and it had information in it and explanations , that story is like it's manufactured for shock value without any substance.

Just a completely different sound , tone and lack of information apart from those 4 words over and over. Like it's designed to scare people without informing them of anything.

I know where you're coming from mate, when a death from the virus is someone of a younger age they do seem to push the 'no underlying health problems' a tad bit too much.

Italy, Spain, France, the might US of A, China all have a fair shout at this award I reckon, fella

saw a report the other day, that with satellite data and other things i can't remember they think over 40,000 people were cremated in Wuhan in their period.

so i think we can safely say China have plucked figures out of their arse
