Let's have no more talk about this government being led by independent scientific advise. They wanted answers from a quango that allowed them to try and carry on with the economy unaffected even if that meant horrendous loss of life.

The deaths you know about in terms of socio-economics are more likely to be publicised and known about due to their wealth.

For every one rich person who dies, there'll be many more poor people in care homes you don't hear about.

Jeepers what going on with the loophole in the grant for business's just heard some of the commons debate from earlier and apparently you can claim a 10k grant if you are renting out an investment property as is seen as a business, Mogg was saying that was reasonable.

Seems a bit mad, given the current context with employment, recession etc.

Do i have the right of that.

I was talking to a neighbour about this because they were looking into it as they have a holiday cottage in Cornwall that they would be normally renting out now so classed as a business.

Thats really bizarre...only way it works is if the owner has it as a main source of income surely?

So it was a political decision not to be involved in the EU ventilator scheme and not because "we never received the E mails"
So yet again the pobster is caught out lying.....absolutely disgraceful 1) not to get involved in the scheme and 2)to tell blatant lies about why they didn't
And people still think the "government" are doing a good job, and continue to try and justify actions like these while looking to blame others for their own incompetence.

And yet the EU ‘scheme’ has not as yet bought any equipment at all.....so why would we want to be part of it ?.....

Also told the lie that the EU procurement scheme hasn't bought any PPE.

The UK government has described the EU’s bulk-buying scheme for personal protective equipment (PPE) as ‘inadequate’, despite it delivering £1.3 billion of equipment to 25 EU countries.

The U.K. alone has delivered over 1Billion items of ppe within the U.K. so let’s take your £1.3bn and divide by 25, I make that about £52M pounds per country. Now how many bits of ppe, gowns, masks, goggles, face protectors etc etc does that buy, enough for 1 day, 2 days ? It’s a joke, a bad joke and it is ‘inadequate’.....

“The Nightingale London may have been built in a matter of days in response to this unprecedented global health emergency but there are excellent facilities and, of course, the staff working there are every bit as skilled and dedicated as those caring for patients at other NHS hospitals.

But you are missing the key point. We have left the EU. We are out of it. We do not need to be part of some useless go nowhere initiative.......I’d rather the government just said, yeah we got an email and deleted it.....

Over the last bank holiday weekend there was £50mil sent to China for ventilators and facemasks. This was Govt money through a UK entity.

The Chinese are selling ventilators at about £50k when they are usually £12k (something like that).

Then a week ago there was another transfer for £42mil.

I was given this info first hand as i was asked advice on the money flows...didnt end up getting involved. The fees being marked up in commissions were 5-10% just to transfer the funds which i think is extremely unethical.

The interesting thing is that I know people in Singapore, HK and Macau selling these goods at enormous markups all over Europe. I actually have a couple of contacts who have friendships with manufacturing plants in China and also private chinese companies making masks and selling at close to cost price.

Problem is it seems as if europe doesnt have these Chinese relationships and so are massively overpaying.

Why are countries resorting to being ripped off by the Chinese?

Well, one reason is that China is giving FREE masks to Italy (and publicising this) but based on behind the scenes deals....planes on the tarmac waiting to be loaded for other countries needing medical goods are sent away emptyhanded (i heard this had happened several times to the canadians)...

You either pay a huge multiple of the usual price or you sign a dodgy deal with China for free stuff.


What would posters here do?
