Well he did the last time,he as also got knowledgable people to ask like dunc Irvine,Stubbs ,or perhaps it's better asking
The united manager

Smith recommended Moyes. So no, he didn't just pull it out of thin air.

Or yeah, I'd ask Stubbs etc... All have zero management experience or failed as a manager in the lower leagues.

But yeah, because Moyes is a snake we'll ask the tea lady at Goodison instead.

I think it's half in half.

I think most people are just trying to get their heads around a post-Moyes Everton in any way they can, hence the Bizarr-o-world response and frantic yells of "MARTINEZ!" every few minutes.

Some things haven't changed, pre and post Moyes.

Just thought I'd pop in to share my views.

As a Leeds fan, right now I should be foaming at the mouth of any mention of David Moyes for obvious reasons, but he's just too likeable of a man for me to resent, even if he is about to become manager of our biggest rivals. I'm not going to lie, I just can't wish him good luck purely because of him going to that club, but he is a good guy and certainly less hatable than Ferguson, and even though he will be the next manager of that lot, I won't hate him. Same with if Mourinho goes to Chelsea. God, what next? AVB to Liverpool? Holloway to Millwall? There may well be a trend of unlikeable clubs getting really likeable managers!

I also think that Ferguson was hugely responsible for why a lot of neutral fans hate Man Utd. I won't list why but Moyes doesn't seem to have certain tendencies that Ferguson did and I think his Man Utd may in fact win a fair few people over...although obviously not Leeds, Liverpool nor Man City fans, for obvious reasons.

I think your fans overall have handled this with dignity and graciousness. I know Everton and Man Utd have a certain common bond but I was expecting a number of people to cry "Judas!", "left us in the ****!", etc. Fair play to you lot.

By the way, I think Di Matteo is a good shout for Everton!

United were hated long before Ferguson. It's 2 things.

1. They may be a sold out NYSE PLC with a ground like a morgue now but back in the 1970s they were a club with a huge and thuggish matchgoing firm which people hated.

2. Pure envy and jealousy. Look at the way the RS ( a huge brand themselbves ) eat themselves up with impotent rage at the very mention of United. The biggest, richenst and most popular clubs attract hate. That is how it is. Madrid are hatted, Juve are hated, Bayern are hated.

My first reaction was like

Why did Man U choice Moyes over Mourinho? Mourinho is a far better manager for sure. His record speaks for itself. His days of flitting between clubs is over, he wants stability. He wants to be a in a country that loves him, the Latin countries do not.

The Glazers have been ripping Man U off for a time now. The profits go to fund other US ventures or plainly creamed off by the family. Moyes average finish is 7.6, so round up to 8th. Once he flirted with relegation. No trophies won. But he has an image of being an overachiever.

Everton has the 8th highest wages bill in the Prem and regularly finish 8th on average - Moyes does not overachieve on that point. His "net" average spending on transfers for last 5 years is £800,000. That is remarkable. Everton are going for their fifth top-eight finish in a row. The net transfer spend over that 5 year period would put them fourth from bottom.

Everton are one of six clubs, along with Swansea, Wigan, Newcastle, Reading and Arsenal, to record a profit in the past 5 years. In Everton's case £12.3m. Everton's average net spend per season in the Moyes years comes in at a small £803,000, to Aston Villa's average of £10.8m over the past decade, Stoke's £7.8m and Sunderland £7.6m. Everton were pushing for a Champions League place until recently; Villa, Stoke and Sunderland fighting relegation. Liverpool have spent an average £17.7m

That is what attracted the greedy Glazers. He does not spend a lot and can keep a team competing at the top. Silverware means little to the suits it is only the bottom line that counts - as Arsenal directors have gleefully found with Wenger and 7 years of each game being 60,000. When the lolly rolls in who cares about a silver cup. Only the fans do.

As much as I love Moyes being our manager, I do think we need to move on, I think Moyes has earn a chance to show everyone, if he was given the tool he could be successful, the difficult part is can he keep things going year after year. Hopfully we get another manager coming in with great potential, it's about time BK and the board had to leave the comfort zone with Moyes being our manager, they need to spend some money for a change to support our new manager.

David Moyes was good for Everton and Everton were good for David Moyes. He came in when we were in a dreadful state and leaves us in a state of relative stability, you could say he and the club were a 'good fit'. There have been ups and downs but overall I would have to say I think he has done a good job.

I wish him success in his new job, although I fear he will not have it. It will be interesting, in any case to see if he is this coaching genius, that all his fans in the sports press seem to think he is once he is no longer working under the budgetary restrictions he had at Everton.

While I respect what Davey has done in his 11 years here I would also say he has been drawing a massive salary and has been given a great deal of time by the board. I am also quite sceptical when he says that he was only aware of Utd.'s interest last week. I also really do not think he should be in charge for the next 2 games.

So in conclusion I would say thanks for all you've done Davey, don't slam the door on your way out, 'Onward Evertonians.'

Mourinho hadn't won a trophy before he got his big break at Porto after proving himself at a mid-table club.

Besides, why should Jose get all the opportunities at big clubs? Aside from the obvious impact on Everton, I'm pleased United have plumped for somebody new and given them a chance to prove themselves.

Where's the fun if the same names, mourinho, ancelotti etc. keep on picking up the best jobs?
