CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

United were hated long before Ferguson. It's 2 things.

1. They may be a sold out NYSE PLC with a ground like a morgue now but back in the 1970s they were a club with a huge and thuggish matchgoing firm which people hated.

2. Pure envy and jealousy. Look at the way the RS ( a huge brand themselbves ) eat themselves up with impotent rage at the very mention of United. The biggest, richenst and most popular clubs attract hate. That is how it is. Madrid are hatted, Juve are hated, Bayern are hated.

Were Utd that big/rich/popular in 1985? Honest question. I mean, I know they had won a European cup but at that point they had less titles than Everton and hadn't won anything for ages.

Which is irrelevant.

No it's not when your criticizing man utd for appointing moyes when he hasnt won a trophy.

Hey if Mourinho deserves the best jobs, why doesn't he manage utd, psg and madrid all at the same time.

[Poor language removed] everyone else.

Dave Whelan has been saying that martinez would only leave for a 'big club' (he was implying that he's not going to everton)
I'd love Roberto to just completely discard that and leave

In 1985 Man U were richer than EFC. They had full houses in a larger higher revenue ground. Stadium income was far more important in those days.

Gary Neville, "I grew up as a fan in the seventies and eighties when that club was really the laughing stock; it proclaimed itself to be the greatest football club in the world but couldn't win the championship".

At the time Manchester based Granada TV was giving Man U equal, if not greater, billing to Liverpool and Everton who between them were sweeping up. They constantly played old films of George Best's goals to the point is was boring, while ignoring goals by current Evertona and Liverpool players. No one was convinced ouside of Manchester and it was obvious a stunt to big but an underachieving club. Laughing stock was the correct term.

Man U like the City of Manchester always big themselves up out of all proportion. Manchester falsely proclaims to be the UK's second city. The city is very forgettable and dreary with HSBC predicting they will be not in the top 7 UK cities in 20 to 25 years time.

....could well be the last Goodison game for a few of the Managers backroom staff. It says a lot for the likes of Round that Moyes is indicating he will only take his kit man. I never thought Moyes particularly confided in Round and I suspect that our new boss will not want him. Just hope there's not a shed load of contracts to pay up.

Apologies if this has already been posted, its a football focus feature on Moyes appointment.

thanks for posting that. Just a timely reminder of Mark Lawrenson's moustache and just how even Moyes' predecessor had no money and was forced into desperate free transfers like Ginola, Gascoigne and had to find bargains like David Weir for a mere 250k if memory serves. Then we had Rooney emerge and suddenly Moyes turned us into a top 4-7 money with some brilliant signings at times, like Jagielka and Lescott. I will miss Moyes having been reminded how long he's been in my head.

With a long enough memory to remember the time before Moyes and the calibre of players we had during those tenures, I for one am bloody worried.

Simplisticly compare the internationals in our eleven now and then.

Scarey isnt it.

Nobody does signing players on a budget like moyes. That's my biggest concern going forward with a new boss.

If we ever had money I wouldn't be concerned at all moyes spending it. In fact I'd be confident even if I ain't heard of the player he would turn out brilliant 90% of the time!

I dread to think of the dross a new boss could blow our tv and fellaini money on!

Maybe that "pacey continental striker" Moyes never seemed to fancy.

Ferguson this morning; 'I knew at Christmas I would be retiring now'. Does that mean that Moyes knew at Christmas that he was leaving Everton.......or does anyone still believe Moyes when he said that the offer from Man United came suddenly a week or so ago and that he was expecting to sign at deal at Everton ?
Or am I being unfair......

So bitter Steve that Moyes has landed the biggest job in world football.

Your mate is not looking to great in the main stand.
