We could so worse than Steve McClaren as a replacement.

For some reason he's a laughing stock cause he used an umbrella or something but he's an experienced manager who would probably be willing to come here.

Good record in some jobs, poor in others but compared to a lot of managers we could get his list of successes is pretty decent.

His Dutch accent debacle pretty much ruined his credibility completely, and if any major club in England hired him any time soon they'd be laughed at mercilessly.

Imagine if he did come, and he signed Joey Barton with his new french accent.

The press conference would be ace.

Hhhaaa, very funny, thank's for that azzurri. He left his work last year. He said that once the thought was there, he had to go. I just think if moyes stays, it won't be the same for him. And I think he'll be lokking to go as soon as a good offer comes along.

Most of us would love to quit our jobs but unfortunately can't, despite thinking about it all the time.

Is this thread for real? Like a genuine debate? It is it like a Spinal Tap thing? Are we all just playing along with the lunacy?

I remember when he was at derby people in the game raving at him as ridiculously innovative and years ahead of everyone as coach and I'm told he's still relatively highly rated in that area but as a man manager I think he's supposed to be horrendous

I think it's half in half.

I think most people are just trying to get their heads around a post-Moyes Everton in any way they can, hence the Bizarr-o-world response and frantic yells of "MARTINEZ!" every few minutes.

For me so much of football is down to the right place, right time, circumstances coming together in your favour for most managers bar the very, very best.

For instance, in Moyes second season we finished 17th. Despite the position we never really flirted with relegation that season and we were safe with games to spare if I remember right?

Now for any time in our history bar that one that would have seen the manager out the door and our fans up in arms. Because of great escapes and a decade of turd we let it slide. But, he also had to be lucky enough to have a chairman willing to let it slide. I can't imagine a chairman of any other club our size allowing that, but Bill did. Rightly so as it's turned out.

Nobody would have been up in arms if he were sacked and Moyes may have easily joined the queue of journeymen manangers getting a season or two here and there at mid level clubs.

Gregg wanted DM sacked when we finnished 17th according to Radio Merseyside - BK would not entertain it proved to be right for once!

the magic of Moyes is that should Alex Ferguson retire - he will be the top Brittish coach in the PL - on the table at least -
whether he is the best coach that Everton could ever whish for is another question -
i think he is good but not great -

We think it did. The funny side is you never know who Gregg would have wanted to replace him? I'm pleased we kept him BTW.

He must have something about him to have achieved what he did, reckon with our hard work decent professional players he might have more success than as a club full of egos and idiots.

But as Tubey pointed out, he'd probably never stand a chance cause he'd get laughed at so badly because he spoke with a dutch accent after living there for a while because that never happens to anyone else anywhere else.

Oh, and just to make clear, i'm not saying MCCLAREN IN! I'm just suggesting he might be a decent option, be better than Gary Megson.

Haven't heard a single realistic replacement who would be an improvement on Moyes overall.

The thing holding us back is the board.

Did the board pick the side for Leeds away this yr, Shrewsbury, Oldham, Bburn, Lisbon away, Liege, Bucresti and the like?

There are times when Moyes has fell short of whats reasonable to expect. There are times when he's exceeded it too. It doesn't make anybody less of a fan to say it IMO.
