CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

Of the rabble that Everton will likely be choosing from, I'd probably go for Martinez. He's managing the smallest, ****test club in the history of the Premier League at a time when their owner's money has dried up. As far as I'm concerned he's doing quite well.

I can't stress enough how much I'd love going to watch an Everton team playing under the guidance of a continental tactician, but I just can't let myself start thinking that my dream appointments are even a remote possibility (Pellegrini, Mazzarri or Emery would represent incredible statements of intent) or else I won't want to renew my season ticket when Kenwright ends up bringing in Dave Jones (I'm convinced he'll be right in the frame).

Now that I've resigned myself to the fact the club won't be put up for sale until Kenwright dies, I'm leaning towards the idea that another long-term appointment is imperative if we're to avoid implosion. Whoever comes in will have to be prepared to accept things like going three years without buying a first team player, which leads me to believe someone like Laudrup isn't a good idea as he'll likely just [Poor language removed], safe in the knowledge that his name alone will guarantee another job quickly enough.

Martinez isn't the Rinus Michels character that some make him out to be, but he does have a positive philosophy and has shown loyalty to a struggling club with an old [Poor language removed] for a chairman. If nothing else I'd say he's well prepared for life at Everton.

I'm sure I'll draw criticism from the Martinez detractors that are prevalent in this thread, but after giving it a lot of thought I don't know what else is realistically out there for Everton at this point. A lower league appointment could work, but unlike Moyes they'd be walking into a dressing filled with accomplished, highly-paid internationals, rather than a gang of crocks who couldn't finish the bleep test, as was the case in 2002.

in truth mate there aren't a lot of options - as the betting shows

My view is he promises something different than what we've endured this decade - now whether that's a winner or loser is the question. I'm quite prepared to take the gamble.

Isn't Moyes a manager that utilises poor tactics, who's poor in the transfer market, bottles every big game, fails every small game, doesn't use subs correctly, doesn't use youth etc etc etc?

Why could only Martinez replace him, surely nearly anyone would be better?

I'm worried that if moyes stays, his desire or passion or whatever you want to call it will have gone. He'll only stay because we're better than nothing. I don''t want anybody here under those circumstances. As my husband say's, once you think about leaving, it's time to go.

Think that might be a hint.

Still waiting for the list or you talking garbage again?

Sorry fella other things to do. What with work and leaving anonymous neg rep for people who think that being repped is like being enslaved I have little time to speak with unnecessarily aggressive wind up merchants

I blame Benitez for all this. He's shown that it's possible to get a better job than the one you've been unceremoniously sacked from if you're willing to sit on the sidelines long enough.

Moyes is probably just going to wait it out until Ferguson dies or Wenger gets committed.

I know we all laugh at Benitez but ultimately whether through incredible good luck or not he's won the champions lge as well as the Uefa & FA cups and a couple of la liga's . Whatever we think of him he's certainly won a shed load more trophies than anyone linked to or even filling our job for a few decades .

Hhhaaa, very funny, thank's for that azzurri. He left his work last year. He said that once the thought was there, he had to go. I just think if moyes stays, it won't be the same for him. And I think he'll be lokking to go as soon as a good offer comes along.

I think Everton have moved on a lot in the last eleven years.Certainly the outside perception of Everton will have changed dramatically.Back then we were heading slowly and painfully to the championship. We nearly fell over the cliff a couple of times but we all believed in our heart of hearts that we were heading for relegation.
That kind of job simply did not interest managers of a certain calibre who had everything to lose and very little to gain.
It was a job that at the tie could make a young manager but maybe not destroy him if he failed as most people believed Everton were a club in almost terminal decline anyway.

Now we are seen as a top six club..maybe even better.
We will attract a lot of top names around Europe ,the reported salary is right up with expectations of a top manager, there are wonderful training facilities and a productive academy already in place.

Sheeds.
The problem with Benitez is that he alienated the fans of lots of clubs when he was at Liverpool. The Chelsea job could have been a very good fit for him,but because of the history he created he will never be accepted by their fans.
Benitez would never be accepted at Everton, not because he managed Liverpool, but because of how he behaved when he did.

Mate the blokes presented media image (except amongst those lot) is that he's a told belter , as it happens in real life I'm told he's alright but like everybody else I laugh at him . I certainly wasn't touting him for our job as that'd be too ridiculous to even joke about . I don't even know what I meant except he's dismissed as some kind of joke (which he is ) whilst the likes of Martinez is a top target for us, if that makes sense ?
