You're being ridiculous now.

1) Nobody is praising Martinez for the job of getting Swansea promoted, they're simply saying he had a hand in the way the club now operates on the pitch, which he clearly did. Laudrup himself even said that he's just continuing the footballing play style already employed at the club.

2) How can you possibly say that he 'couldn't' win games in the Championship ? Just because they didn't get promoted in their first season back in the Championship doesn't mean that he couldn't have got them to the Premier League himself had he stayed.

So now he's not only being praised for games someone else won, he's getting praised for games he didn't win but might have hypothetically won in another timeline?

I don't rate Martinez in the slightest, I honestly don't understand the hype around him?!

Wigan have actually finished lower under him than under Bruce.

No ? He's getting praised for enforcing a style of play on Swansea which has served them well for the past few years and has contributed massively to them being so successful. I don't see why you have such an issue with that when it's widely accepted, particularly by Swansea fans (who know much more about it than either of us).

You said he 'couldn't' win the games to get them promoted to the Championship which isn't really fair. It's a big step up going from League One to the Championship, never mind then trying to get promoted again. An 8th place finish was impressive and they won 16 games under him, only losing 10.

in truth mate there aren't a lot of options - as the betting shows

My view is he promises something different than what we've endured this decade - now whether that's a winner or loser is the question. I'm quite prepared to take the gamble.

Because it essentially collates winning and passing as the same, which is what we mock Rogers for.

Martinez got them passing, later managers got them winning. Why is the former viewed as the greater achievment? There's a long long list of passing teams who struggled at the prem level (mowbrays west brom and coyles burnley as two examples). Passing isn't an automatic win code, even though I think it's the most efficient style. The accomplishment is putting a team out and getting them to win a game, whatever the style. Swansea hire the wrong managers, they don;t get out of the championship and martinez' great foudnations don't get talked up. His reputation is reliant on other men doing good work which he has no involvement in.

There's plenty of swansea fans who think martinez would never have gotten them promoted, btw, a quick look on their forums tells me that.

Yeah cos they won no games under Martinez.

Martinez Win ratio at Swansea - 50%

In the second and third flights.

The greater accomplishments were later, surely you can recognise that?

Nobody is arguing about accomplishments though.

You clearly have a massive issue with Martinez, he employed a play style and staff mentality at Swansea which has stuck with the club to this day, without him they'd probably still be in League One.
