I notice he was defensive in the press conference when he was asked about not winning anything replying that we had only won one trophy in ten years. Did not like that bit as all of a sudden his mask slipped and he s pissed off someone questions his ability.

Respected him but never loved him. Did lots of great things but often frustrated. At the end f the day we would be in the fa cup final tomorrow if it hadn't been for his terrible team selection against Wigan. No wins at the so called big four because of his negativity.

No one is bigger than EFC so ta ta Davey, be careful what you wish for!

Davey deserves a great send he has been a great manager this day was always going to come. Sad as it is I'm looking fwd to getting the season over and welcoming new gaffer and the new direction he will take us. No more favourites, all players clean slate looking to impress a few new signings and the new season where hopefully we have a gaffer to sing about. I will always appreciate Moyes for his efforts and transforming this club but EFC were a long time here before 2002 so onwards and upwards

I'll tell you what mate, I don't want Lennon, but I think what you've said there is kinda spot on. Imagine going into big games with a swagger and a 'let's do these' attitude instead of parking the bus and hoping for a nil-nil

Certainly wouldn't be a white flag waving exercise that's for sure -gives me the impression that he's as pugnacious a manager as he was a player.....could be just the culture shift we need to convert draws to wins.

It leaves a bad taste that the richest cub in the world is taking our manager for precisely sweet fa.
If Moyes comes back in for backroom staff still under contract I hope we tell them to **** off.

He's pretty much the only Everton manager I've known; I was around 11 when he was appointed. Extremely sad that he's going, but things need freshening up. All the best Davey

You could just tell by that press conference that he was bull****ting us all along. He has known about this job for months. I know one member of the backroom staff was asked to join him late last week.

Thanks moyes but you can get to f.ck now in my opinion. I'm glad I've got to work on Sunday as I don't want no part In Kissing his arse

Why? He looked pretty sincere to me, didn't change facial expression or move a muscle; complete opposite symptoms of someone who's lying. Unless of course he secretly works for the CIA and has learned how to beat a lie detector and withstand torture.

Sorry, but I'm not buying all this 'It's been planned for weeks' nonsense....IT'S A CONSPIRACEE LARRR. How many times do we make fun of the RS for these type of claims. Same thing happening here I'm afraid.

He's managed us for 11 years, 11 years ffs. I think he deserves a standing ovation at Goodison on Sunday after the final whistle. Show some respect for God's sake, he's earned it.

We need to shift the focus away from our ex-manager and consider why the situation arose and where we go from here. Back in January when Moyes and the Club were just one key signing from 4th place, the Board failed to land the players that we needed. We all new that Felli would leave in the summer for £20+ mill so any spend in January could have been replaced by the Felli money if 4th place was not secured. Moyes could have been convinced to sign a new contract in January if the board had backed him. Moyes flagged this up in the only way possible without broadcasting his displeasure.
Failure to secure 4th place left the door wide open for Fergie, who obviously wanted Moyes, to dictate the whole scenario. He wasn't going to broadcast his retirement plans and acted before Moyes signed a new contact in the summer. United's Board had obviously discussed Moyes as the successor at least weeks before the Title was won and, one once secured, they set the ball rolling. No compensation payment required and at least two key players bought in with their new manager. A very well planned and executed situation by professional Board members.
Now compare what our shambles of a Board have allowed to happen. Lost a European place, lost a manager, will lose at least one more key player in Baines, risk Premier status with a new manager and FAILED to plan around Moyes not signing.
We have no manager, have lost at least 2 key squad members and have Bill Kenwright looking dazed and staring at a blank script. Poor, poor management. No plan A or B.... Trousers around his ankles and no money to remedy the mess that they started in January.
The new manager will probably get £25 mill to spend after we have paid £3-5 mill in compensation, and then see what happens. The extra Tv money will go to the Bank to clear the overdraft and we will probably drop back at least 6 years to undo all the good work Moyes did. The Club still need investment but Billy Bullsh1t will take this opportunity to deflect the proverbial crap that should be hitting the fan.
Haven't a clue where we go from here, but you can bet your last dollar, that it will be based on luck rather than a controlled situation that they have at the Theatre of Dreams - engineered by a professional Board.

Na. I hope he takes them all with him.

The new man will probably want his own men, so we could well end up paying them compensation for ending their contracts. If a condition imposed on the new man is that they have to stay, then the new man has lost before he starts.

Hard to disagree with that analysis. Good post.

Just thought I'd pop in to share my views.

As a Leeds fan, right now I should be foaming at the mouth of any mention of David Moyes for obvious reasons, but he's just too likeable of a man for me to resent, even if he is about to become manager of our biggest rivals. I'm not going to lie, I just can't wish him good luck purely because of him going to that club, but he is a good guy and certainly less hatable than Ferguson, and even though he will be the next manager of that lot, I won't hate him. Same with if Mourinho goes to Chelsea. God, what next? AVB to Liverpool? Holloway to Millwall? There may well be a trend of unlikeable clubs getting really likeable managers!

I also think that Ferguson was hugely responsible for why a lot of neutral fans hate Man Utd. I won't list why but Moyes doesn't seem to have certain tendencies that Ferguson did and I think his Man Utd may in fact win a fair few people over...although obviously not Leeds, Liverpool nor Man City fans, for obvious reasons.

I think your fans overall have handled this with dignity and graciousness. I know Everton and Man Utd have a certain common bond but I was expecting a number of people to cry "Judas!", "left us in the ****!", etc. Fair play to you lot.

By the way, I think Di Matteo is a good shout for Everton!

Precisely my thoughts on the situation. Let's give Moyes a good send off, the board have once again let glory slip through their fingers, it's not Moyes fault he was never backed and we have been run like a shambolic alehouse for nigh on 23 years.

If one of our star players had refused to sign a new contract and signed for Man United on a free after lying to everyone for months, we'd be fuming. We've been badly fked over by this situation.
