Because Wenger is a better manager and they have a better team.
DUH
They have a better team despite lower net spend?!?!?!
How can that be??

We dropped from 5th to 8th in that time, goat.
Swansea improved year on year in the lower leagues, but they've reached their limit now. They will not get higher than 8th without spending a fair bit of money on transfers.
This whole argument is getting a bit convoluted. Main point is that net spend is clearly an important financial restraint. It doesn't matter how much you pay your current players if you can't buy new ones without selling first.
Actually it does.
What are you even talking about :/
Man U post Ronaldo? Very low net spend with that 80 million fee taking into account. Still winning stuff.
Swansea? Allardyce's Bolton? Us? Lyon?
Arsenal have spent 952 million on their first team between 2002 and 2012. Tottenham have spent 661 million during that time.
Arsenal have a net profit of 23 million in the transfer window during that time period while Spurs have a net spend of 100 million but that doesn't change the fact that arsenal have invested more money than spurs. It's their choice to spend it on wages and not fees but they still spent it, in fact they spent more.
Net spend doesn't tell you much at all about the real picture.
oh no, phill neville's been given the england u21's coaching job for the EC, god help us all

LOL, yeah, £80m for one player, to a different league. Well done to them for continuing to win stuff under such crippling conditions.
Well the bigger picture shows me that Spurs are now finishing higher than Arsenal.
So maybe Net spend means more than Wages?
