The standard of the league has dropped IMO. Also, in Ronaldo's last season they won the league and got to the European Cup final. The year before that they won it. Since then they haven't quite repeated that except getting to the final vs Barca.

Also, would Tom Cleverley get in any of the teams Ronaldo played in?

Hes played the Tom Cleverley card.

It baffles me how a team that contains Tom Cleverley and Danny freaking Welbeck can win the League.

I guess Van Persie really is a GOD.

Wenger?

Is that the fella that has a wage bill of 160m a Year, an unlimited transfer pot and has won nothing in 8 years?

You mean that Wenger? Right?

yeah the guy who managed to build a team to go unbeaten in a whole season, won countless titles, i could go on and on. Just because he's wasted money on some truly awful signings, doesn't mean he's worse manager

cheers.

swansea have improved just about every single season bar one where they went from 7th to 8th in the championship i think. all done despite managers leaving them continuously, only this season have they really spent, and that was because of the £15m from xavi

Swansea improved year on year in the lower leagues, but they've reached their limit now. They will not get higher than 8th without spending a fair bit of money on transfers.

This whole argument is getting a bit convoluted. Main point is that net spend is clearly an important financial restraint. It doesn't matter how much you pay your current players if you can't buy new ones without selling first.

I never expected Moyes to throw the first stone like, but it seems his camp will speak via Talksport.

I wonder when the knife will get stuck in by Everton to Moyes, and Prentice will copy and paste an email from Tyrell.

Net is a massive smoke screen if you recieve massive transfer fees.

Is right, Stend.

Seriously lads, Stend's on my side. You should all just give up, now.

Yeah, and wages are a massive smokescreen if your players are much better than their wages suggest.

See: QPR vs Swansea

Generally net spend is a good indicator of the financial restraints placed on a club. It's certainly not a 'red herring'.

Sure but if the standard of the leageu has dropped so man u don't need to spend big to improve relative to other teams in the league but they're weaker objectively as proven in europe, surely that applies to us too?

Show me the last top flight Manager that went 5 transfer windows without spending a single penny on a single player and still maintained the Clubs League Postion.

SHOW ME IT
