CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

We played Cheltenham, Bolton, Oldham and then Wigan in the FA Cup. If we’d have beaten Wigan we’d have played Millwall at Wembley in the semi final. The opportunity was there to get to an FA Cup final with having played a League Two Side, a League 1 side, 2 Championship sides and 1 Premiership side (who spend less than us/struggling in the league delete as appropriate). Getting to the final would have likely qualified us for Europe.

Are you seriously saying no other Manager could have done better than Moyes in that cup run?

It's football and that's happen. On the other day Moyes more of less played the same team and we beat Man City. I don't think It's fair to blame it all on Moyes for failing to beat Wigan. The players had no desire to win on that day too.

Yes mate - Arsenal spend almost twice what we do on a large squad of internationals.

But Wenger has achieved a lot more than twice the success that Moyes has.

How do you judge the relative value of each variable? Don't know. So we can keep it simple.

Wenger has spent less net than Moyes on transfer
But Wenger has spent more each year on wages*
Fortunately for Arsenal Wenger has achieved a lot more than Moyes

*if looking strictly at wages, Arsenal do spend a tonne on absolute dross...

Moyes and Wenger are shopping in different markets though, it's a really poor comparison.

Arsenal pay higher wages and are more successful, and they also spend more on transfers. While both Moyes and Wenger have a good net spend, Wenger spends a lot more money to achieve that.

Since Wenger has been in charge Arsenal have never spent less than £10m a year on players. Moyes once went two seasons without buying a single first team player.

And finally, Wenger's net spend was only brought to a low level when they moved to the Emirates, which was coincidentally (or not) the same time that they stopped winning things. Lets not pretend that Wenger has been operating on a tight budget and won titles doing so.

When he was actually winning trophies he was spending millions every year NET. £5.6m per year to be precise.

That's the point isn't it , we spend more than a lot of other clubs and have a smaller squad whilst our top end is more than a lot of other rivals .

Stats are sometimes capable of being manipulated by both sides of the argument , I'm not being anti-moyes over this at all by the way but my issues with him have certainly increased though over the contract debacle .

So you are saying that Moyes has no input to the motivation of players then?

Also it wasn’t the same team selection by Moyes for the two games, and City and Wigan are two very different sides also.

In Moyes’ time at Everton there is a pattern of his achievements in the games when it really matters that doesn’t reflect positively on him. Coincidence?

I see him looking for offers this summer, Kenwright allowing him to take the best part of that summer to look, Moyes not getting a sniff of a bigger job because 'bigger clubs' know he's a bottler, and Moyes eventually signing up again in late July/early August.

See your usually quite negative but you usually ground it reality. Like a 'realist' I'd say.

But saying that Moyes would wait until late July/August to sign a contract is nonsense. It would be a guarantee for another absymal start to the season that Moyes wouldn't want for his reputation.

I agree that he'll be looking at his options, but there is no way he'd leave himself or us hanging that long.

Wenger has spent more than £250M gross more on players than Moyes has & their wage bill is more than double ours.

So in the last 8 years Wenger has spent over £50M per season more than Moyes & won nowt.

What do you base that on mate ? How do you know ?

Moyes must have done his part but it was down to the players to achieve it. He merely made two changes and the core of the squad was the same.

I don't always like his tactics but most of them work. See where we finish in the last decade.
